AT&T to launch the HTC Puccini as HTC Jetstream

htc_puccini_back

Since the launch of the HTC Hero, the HTC software design team has managed to make Android look a little better. HTC Sense has also given Android a little more polish around the edges. But now it looks like they’re simply stuck in their old ways.  Two new leaked screen shots of the HTC Puccini have surfaced, which reveal the tablet’s real name (HTC Jetstream) and a look at HTC’s trademark flip clock widget on the home screen.

The HTC Jetstream may sound a bit odd, but the name does tie in with the HTC Flyer name.  We’re not sure if the European or Wi-Fi only versions of the HTC Puccini will carry the same name, since HTC has trademarked the name HTC Skyrocket in Europe.

With the HTC Flyer, the software design team really outdid themselves with the 3D effects and carousel.  Unfortunately for anyone who’s a fan of HTC Sense, it looks like HTC has dropped the ball with the HTC Jetstream.  While the flip clock widget looks pretty much identical to previous iterations of HTC Sense, it looks completely out of place within the Honeycomb UI.  There’s no guarantee that the leaked screen shots actually represent the final software build for the HTC Jetstream, but we can’t image things will look much differently when HTC’s first Honeycomb tablet shows up in AT&T stores.

We know most of you love stock Android and don’t really like many of the custom UIs manufacturers slap on their devices and tablets. Regardless of how you feel about HTC Sense on phones or even the HTC Flyer, what are your thoughts about HTC Sense on the HTC Jetstream?  Has HTC missed the mark?

HTC… HTC… HTC… [shake head]… How the mighty have fallen. I’m a fan of Sense, but this just makes be want to turn pick up an Archos tablet and simply call it a day.

It would be best for everyone to reserve there judgements until the finished product is live and work in the real world. Honestly without sense android is nothing more than a total BORE anyway. Don’t get it twisted HTC has done right by android and enhanced every aspect of the user experience otherwise people would be bored out of there mind just like current iPhone users. Millions upon millions of people hate stock android plain and simple. I wish they had a poll I bet you people would take htc sense over stock android and all those other useless skins…

It’s a good thing Android has many tablet options. There’s no need to be shoving these custom UI’s down the mouths of consumers.

I’d like a Honeycomb on it and no Sense, please.

My brother suggested I would possibly like this web site. He was totally right. This put up truly made my day. You cann’t consider just how a lot time I had spent for this info! Thank you!

I think you just proved Richards point. Only 500K users us Cyanogen. There are over 30 million HTC Sense phones on the market. And last I checked, Cyanogen isn’t even close to stock Android.

    Correlation does not imply causality.

Currently no phones ship with Cyanogenmod installed, and not all phones with Cyanogenmod were previously running HTC Sense.

Thus, comparing Cyanogenmod user numbers to HTC Sense users tells us absolutely nothing.

True, but one thing that bugs me is that too many people consider Cyanogen and stock android to be nearly identical. Cyanogen has as much or even more customization as any manufacturer skin out there.
