Street Fighter IV coming to Android as LG exclusive

Street Fighter IV

When LG starts shipping HD Android devices with retina-smashing pixel densities in Q4, they’ll be back backed by some awesome software and games that’ll take full advantage of the impressive hardware. Thanks to a partnership between LG and Capcom, Street Fighter IV will be one of those games.

Set for a three-month exclusivity period on LG’s HD devices come launch time, Street Fighter IV is going to set the bar for content quality on HD phones. According to LG Mobile President and CEO Dr. Jong-seok Park:

As we prepare our first HD smartphone for launch, it was important for us to be able to offer HD content that would really demonstrate this phone’s benefits. The HD version of Street Fighter certainly fills this objective. We are also confident that LG’s soon-to-be-unveiled HD display technology will give Street Fighter fans a whole new reason to play the game again.Jong-seok ParkLG Mobile

As far as the device that will usher in SFIV, the recently uncovered LG U+ LTE is a good bet. The U+ LTE just may end up being the Revolution 2 for Verizon Wireless and will feature a 4.5-inch AH-IPS display with True HD resolution (1280 x 720 pixels), a 1.5 GHz dual-core processor Snapdragon S3 (MSM8660) and 1 GB RAM, among other exciting specs. For a taste of how Street Fighter IV would work on an Android phone, check out the SFIV review for iPhone below.

What do you think? Could you D,DF,F+P on a 4.5-inch touchscreen? Or is Street Fighter best left on the consoles? Excited for LG’s upcoming HD devices, or is the next Nexus the only device on your must-have-for-Christmas list? Let us know in the comments below.

“Set for a three-month exclusivity period on LG’s HD devices…”

I guess you missed the part above.

As for the game itself, I don’t know if I’d be willing to buy it. I played SF2 on an iPod Touch and though it was fun, it was frustrating as well. Maybe on a phone with a larger screen it wouldn’t be so bad but I’d have to try it first.

I admit my first reaction was Eff you LG! Then I thought about it and I don’t think I would ever want to play Street Fighter on my phone, tablet maybe but never on my phone.

Hoooooooooolllllyyyyyyyyy monkeys I had no idea Street Fighter was made portable. And soon for Android?! I am going to wear grooves into the screen when this comes out. After the exclusivity period ends, of course.

Thank goodness for controller support. Now, if they are able to allow cross platform play or bluetooth/wifi versus battles…I would settle all of my discussions/arguments with a game of SFIV.

iPad version is more powerful, as always.

Don’t like the look of the controls, I would be much more comfortable using the Xperia Play for this haha.

Go home and be an android man!!!

It’s totally within their rights and interest to make this play. However, as a consumer, I’m getting sick of shot like this. Just another piece of fragmentation, even tho I hate Apple and their control scheme, I’m sick of flashing roms, learning about bootloaders, recovery, partitioning my phone and all the crazy different stuff. I love open source and my pc is Ubuntu. However, I might try iPhone if the control comes with a great user.experience. Google just doesn’t speak consumer.

this is another thing for the apple users to laugh at. I love android but they are going to have to address this, the ipod and iphone have good hardware but when compared to the g2x, senstation, droid bionic and the photon the apple is way behind, yet their apps and their games are second to none, street fighter should have been on all android devices already. I mean with a giant like nvidia entering the smartphone market I would have thought all the major pc developers would be all over this, but by the time the developers get on board they are developing the games for the quad core processors, which leaves all of us with the tegra 2 in the dust. Apple as much as i hate to say it have it right when it comes to their phones and tablets. Android still have a ways to go, and I hope that Ice cream sandwhich will bridge that gap a little.

Nice job Capcom ill make sure i downloaded pirated version since you want to leave out the rest of the android community out, even if its for 3 months this is BS.

side note i predict this LG “exclusive” will be cracked to work on more devices if anything it will be tied to one GPU and hopefully chainfire plugins work
