Sprint Samsung Galaxy S II, Epic 4G Touch now available

The wait is over; the Samsung Galaxy S II has finally landed in the US market! Sprint is the first US service provider to release their version of the phone–the Samsung Galaxy S II, Epic 4G Touch. Good luck remembering that name. And, yes, it officially has a comma in it. You’ve probably already read up on all the specs, watched a commercial or two or even seen our initial hands-on video with the device, so what are you waiting for?

Sprint is selling the Samsung Galaxy S II, Epic 4G Touch for $199.99 with a two year contract, but you’ll need $499.99 saved up if you’re not eligible for an upgrade. If you’re looking for a slightly better deal, the best price we’ve been able to spot online is $149.99 with a two year contract at WireFly.

Leave us a comment below and let us know if you’re planning on upgrading to the Samsung Galaxy S II, Epic 4G Touch. We’d also love to hear which phone you’ll be pawning off to your little brother or sister once you get your hands on your new Galaxy S II.

I was about to jump on board, but I think I’m waiting on the Nexus Prime and Ice Cream Sandwich. The timing of this release is just TOO CLOSE top of the line Vanilla Android goodness.

You know I am at a crossroads… I was going to get the AT&T version ( I realize this is talking about the Sprint version ) but I really have to decide if I want to wait for Prime.

The problem is that just because Prime is released, doesn’t mean that AT&T will pick it up in a reasonable amount of time. I don’t think they ( AT&T ) released the Nexus S until three months ago. I don’t want to wait until next year to get this years phone.

Got it, love it, and I am still going to get the Prime :). Until then I can wait for an update to come to my NS4G. Who knows if it’ll be a timely manner when Google pushes the Prime out to several carriers. I hope so for a sooner and later thing

I am also thinking on getting this phone and later getting the prime but my little issue is how do I go to Prime from the SGSII without spending too much $$. How do you plan on getting the Prime, selling SGSII to get it? You think it will be hard to sell?

      • Cwalden21

yeah how do you plan on getting the prime..are you buying it outright or what?

        • Louis

If I buy the SGSII and later sell it for $300 to $400 I don’t mind adding the extra $200 to $300 to buy it.

  • keithecampell

I am going to get the Epic Touch ASAP and then I can finally start playing with the custom ROMs for my EPIC 4G.

  • Cwalden21

Just got it a couple hours ago! So far it’s a beast and i’m lovin it like mcdonalds…FINALLY!!! :))

  • Wilson

gonna get rid of my htc hero. I hate that phone. But I might wait on the SGSII till the next nexus device, I’m just worried sprint will not get the new nexus…

  • paul atreides

Wow! Im in the store typing this from the device! It is beautiful and light. Dont know if I can wait for the Prime…time will tell!

  • FrankTank59

I ordered mine from Sprint just after midnight. Can’t wait until it gets here!

  • kwills88

If I wasn’t broke, and desperately in need of a new phone I would continue to wait for the prime, but without being sure how long or if it will drop on all carriers, I gotta take the chance with the Sg2 and maybe hoping for some dev support for ics when it gets g1 might not hold much longer.

  • dokholiday44

I pre-ordered mine from Walmart/Letstalk Wednesday night. Now its on backorder! BOO!!!

  • iSlackerz

I got my GSII – E4GT about an hour ago… I’m trying to play with it but all this damn work keeps getting in the way.

  • omgjoz

I picked mine up this morning, couldn’t be happier! Best phone I’ve ever seen.

  • Ichigo

This makes me wanna switch to sprint. Hate tmobile.

    • Nick Gray

You’ll get your turn. T-mobile’s version of the GSII should be right around the corner.

  • Richard Yarrell

Yeah for Samsung they believe in innovative technology and products. They are definitely making there mark on android..

This thing owns the EVO and EVO 3D :)

I just picked this phone up a couple of hours ago at my local Best Buy. They had gotten 2 and one was being held, so mine was the first to be activated. I had all the Mobile phone guys standing around checking out the goods. This phone is insanely fast; from the initial boot-up to scrolling through the home screens and even surfing the web. They are also offering a sweet case for this thing at the Sprint store that is really thin and light and even offers a little kick stand. If you are still sitting on the fence waiting to see what the next latest and greatest might be, just do yourself a favor and get this phone. 5 stars.

mind telling us what the case is?

  • Prince77

I have the Evo 3D, I am thinking about getting this phone, but not right now. I can wait a few months to see what else is going to be released and go from there.

    • Richard Yarrell

As an EVO 3D OWNER myself you must give credit where credit is due. The daily competition Samsung and Htc has allowed this beautiful device to come to market. Just like Sense 3.0 Touch wiz 4.0 has come a long way you have to consider this device without question. I will be looking into this myself very soon.

Ok, guys. I am drooling over your comments. On top of your positive remarks a car charging dock and office/home charging dock is what is making me think SGII, although I find it odd that the office cradle docks at portrait and not at landscape? Anyway does any one has any specs for the Nexus Prime, first time I heard about this one.

  • Mocha K

Fedex dropped mine off this morning. I love this phone its super fast.

  • chris

Got it and luv it so far…handed the 3D to my gurl and not looking back
