ASUS EeePad Transformer 2 teaser video hits Youtube; announcement imminent?

While the Samsung Galaxy Nexus and Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich have taken center stage over the past few weeks, an equally exciting device has largely been kept quiet. Until now.

The ASUS EeePad Transformer 2 will be the first quad-core Android device on the market, featuring NVIDIA’s next-generation Tegra 3 processor. If you’ve not been following our coverage of Tegra 3/Kal-El, you can check out the promo video of Tegra 3, read about their battery-life-saving 5th core (which I’ve lovingly dubbed “Ninjacore”), and see the GPU in 4 minutes of video glory.

ASUS chairment Jonney Shih will be speaking at AsiaD, the Asia expansion of the popular D: All things Digital conference in Hong Kong. Though details of what Mr. Shih will talk about are not available, ASUS may choose AsiaD as the venue to launch the Transformer 2, which should be hitting US shelves sometime in November (perhaps as early as November 7, though we think it’ll be 1-2 weeks later).

In the meantime, ASUS has released a short teaser video for the upcoming tablet, which you can view in its entirety below. The timing of the teaser video suggests that the announcement may be imminent, so we’ll keep ourselves tuned into the AsiaD conference and will provide you with more information as it becomes available.

Several of our staffers are excited to see just how powerful the first Tegra3 tablet will be. Who out there is excited about the Transformer 2?

Wish this came a bit sooner, I’ll be happy with the Transformer I’m buying next month though.

I’m sure your life can still go on without a tablet for a few months.

      • EightBitJoker

It has, actually. All that I’m saying is that the “wait it out, something better is coming” philosophy didn’t work out for me. Something better will always come out, and I didn’t want to end up not buying something I want just because “something better is coming” :))

Looks absolutely stunning! I just hope that it has a full sized USB port (which it probably should for connecting to the keyboard dock). That’s the second big main feature I want…first being the Kal-El!

    • Dragonithe

      Your in luck.
If you look at the last picture you can see a USB port on the dock.

      • Sway_212

Yeah..I know the dock has it. What I want to know is if the tablet itself has one…cuz I don’t really want to get the keyboard dock. I’ll get only the tablet.

I do not foresee any usb ports on this unit. Keyboard dock will have it as usual. Dock is worth the cost just for the extra battery life and can be used as a protective case for the screen imho. Really love all the ports on it as well. They will never put all those ports on the unit itself. Other Tablet manufacturers don’t even bother with ports and extra battery.

  • Slith

Finally! I’ve lived without a tablet for too long!

  • alterSchw3de

It looks stunning! Hopefully it comes soon enough so i can order it before christmas :)

Looks like their ultrabook turned into a transformer–that’s would be excellent!
Just wish they would have announced it with the new Nexus as a Google experience device so we would have vanilla ICS on it with updates from Google. . . double win!!!

Nonetheless, most likely my next Tablet as RIM looks like they are going to muck up the playbook.

Ooh, I’m very excited about this. I’d love a TF2 while I wait for my upgrade in Feb/Mar.

I just hope it comes out by the end of the year. I have been itching to get the current model, but I knew this was on the horizon. This with a ICS and we have ourselves a winner. Even if it does not come with ICS initially I will be snagging one. I have waited long enough and Asus seems to be pretty good at updates.
