LG Revolution finally receives Android 2.3 Gingerbread treatment

revolution update

Many of you may not be very happy with LG right now, after finding out that the G2x may not be getting an Ice Cream Sandwich update. On the good side, though, the LG Revolution is finally getting an update to Android 2.3 Gingerbread.

The wait has been long, and it seems like these 4G LTE devices were stuck with Froyo for a long time. Things are finally looking up for these smartphones, starting with the Thunderbolt receiving its Gignerbread update recently (again). Now that LG Revolution users get a taste of gingerbread, you will be able to enjoy all the features that Android 2.3 has to offer.

Verizon’s software update PDF also mentions the following improvements:

Email & Messaging

  • Email folders will now display in the correct order.
  • The maximum attachment size is now set correctly, even when the
Exchange service is configured with unlimited size attachments.
  • Messages can now be stored on the SIM card. View these messages
through the Settings menu, “Manage SIM card messages.”
  • Correctly set Out of Office without having to set a start or end time.
  • The popup message asking to delete accounts when changing the
    SIM card now displays correctly.

Device Features

  • The cursor has been reshaped for easier text editing.
  • List menu force close issue has been resolved.
  • Issues have been fixed involving proper connectivity through
    the HDMI cable.
  • Data now works correctly when toggling in Airplane mode

If you haven’t updated your device yet, simply go to Menu Key > Settings > About phone > System updates > Check New and follow the instructions. After letting the LG Revolutions do its thing, you should be ready to go. Don’t forget to hit the comments to let us know how this update is treating you.

That leaves the Droid Charge as the last among the Verizon LTE phones that doesn’t have Gingerbread. Pretty ridiculous situation if you ask me. One of the best reasons to buy the Galaxy Nexus.

  • BigCiX

About damn time…..now push out 2.3 for the Thrill!

  • Nathan

Well finally at this point LG sucks at updating their device

Gotta keep it real and I don’t care if I get voted down or the normal trolls arrive and bash me ie. @squiddy20 and snowbdr89. Verizon and LG belong together with the sorry update path they have both have had for years. Verizon is one of the worst carriers for updates in the US and it’s pitiful for all the money they have. Gingerbread came out December 2010 and ice cream sandwich is the operating system now when will they see some ice cream October 2012?? Verizon sucks major eggs when it comes to updates and don’t tell me nothing about that sorry thunderdud getting gingerbread it’s about time actually what version does it have 2.3.3, not even the highest version out to date as far as gingerbread which should be 2.3.5.. even the current Nexus S4g has version 2.3.6 or 2.3.7. And another thing I bet that thunderdud can’t do google talk??? I just wanted to have a little fun knowing the verizon fanboys and androidandme trolls will respond in just. I am ready boys let’s get it on if your smart you won’t come on here talking about some stupid verizon junk or crappy thunderdud. Oh yeah gentlemen 4G toggle anyone…

      1. ICS isn’t even out yet, therefore it ISN’T the “operating system now”. Come back in few weeks then, say that to me. Your sense of time is incredibly off.
      2. “…what version does it have 2.3.3″ Actually no, it has 2.3.4. Talk about making crap up off the top of your head.
      3. “…the highest version out to date as far as gingerbread which should be 2.3.5.” Wrong again Dick. If you took the minute it would take to do a simple Google search on your “legendary” Evo 3D, you’d find the latest Gingerbread version is 2.3.6. Try checking your “facts” before saying such ridiculous crap.
      4. What you’re apparently failing to realize is that it takes time, effort, developers, and money to make a working Android OS, and make sure it works well. I’d LOVE to see you port an OS update by yourself and see what your response is then. I can guarantee you won’t be talking as if you’re the big man on campus. Go back to school Dick. You don’t know how the “real world” works.

Thank god the Galaxy Nexus will be a pure android device minus this silly verizon BLOATWARE and stupid verizon branding. Google is very smart just use the network never give verizon anything to do with updates or any thing else for that matter.. Chime in verizon fanboys but be honest about the USELESS BLOATWARE that holds down all verizon handsets and the sorry track record for update history your carrier has. I guess paying more for this is something many people seems to be doing and for what reason some speed… It is what it is but the truth is the truth

    • squiddy20

You fail to realize (again) that there’s a little something called “root”. Root allows us to get rid of all the Verizon/Sprint/T-Mobile/AT&T bloatware that is put on our phones and do more than the carrier limits us to. But you wouldn’t even think of that, would you? Oh that’s right, you’re the Dick who thinks rooting is for “2 plus year old devices”. What a joke.

      • Richard Yarrell

People who have no plans of purchasing any thing new for the life of there 2yr contracts or longer root good for you guys a very small community. Other normal people just buy what they want simple as that. Don’t make it seem that rooting is the save all be all because it’s not Missy. People who spend for what they want shouldn’t have to root it should be an option. Your on this root bandwagon because you can’t afford a new device that’s your problem. Don’t bring everyone else down because they can afford something you can’t and that’s buy new yearly. Your life is tour life and ours is ours now go pick up your face loser..

      • Richard Yarrell

Hey little Missy your beginning to sound more and more like the degenerate you really are. I going to keep drilling you and that sorry @snowbdr89 every chance I get while I laugh all the way to verizon come November 18th. I will be thinking of you losers when I get my Galaxy Nexus and oh yeah my purple Evo 3d will be kool too. I enjoy your hating and trolling here at androidandme they don’t know you bums like i do but yes this is pure hatred and war on the trolls androidandme better get these bums off this site..

        • squiddy20

          1. You drill me? What planet are you from? I’ve been schooling your sorry ass because you make wild guesses about me that you have no hope of getting right. Not to mention that you have absolutely no knowledge of the stuff you speak of. I mean, you again practically stated above that rooting is for “2 plus year old devices”, when that simply isn’t so. Your Evo 3D has a HUGE root community behind it. The Nexus S STILL has a big root community. Face it little girl, you have no clue what you’re talking about. Now you’re just pulling shit out of your ass (pun intended) to make yourself seem smart, but in reality (aka “the real world”) you’re just bringing yourself down more. Keep trying though, I laugh at your pitiful attempts to be “intelligent”.
          2. http://boweryapplications.org/Images/mmDocument/Red%20Door%20Jun2007.pdf Page 2, bottom right corner pretty well describes it. And you called me a “bum”? What a hypocrite.

        • snowbdr89

Laugh all you want moron, I’m already with verizon and I have unlimited data and unlimited 4g hotspot for my bionic so you can have that pathetic purple gay pride evo while I enjoy my bionic an soon to be vigor or whatever they will call it oh yeah dickless yarrell my bionic is already rooted runnin liberty 1.0 an this phone screams and its silky smooth thanks to kejar31 but your dumbass wouldn’t know because your to fucking stupid!! : )
