It’s a good time to be an Android user, at least if you own one of LG‘s or Sony Ericsson‘s Android phones. Box is partnering with both these companies to offer a whopping 50 GB of cloud storage to individuals who own any of their Android devices. This level of storage trounces the 5 GB that HTC is currently offering to its Android users, though we expect HTC is already working with Box to up their free storage level.
LG will be the first of the two companies to offer the free 50 GB of lifetime cloud storage. Users will be able to access this storage deal effective today. Sony Ericsson will make this available to their Xperia customers very soon, probably by the end of 2011.
For those unfamiliar with Box, it’s a cloud-based storage system that allows users to access files they’ve uploaded and/or linked to the cloud from any device that has access to the internet. Personally, services such as Box have been invaluable to me to access my music, movies and documents on my Android phone and tablet when I didn’t want to lug one of my laptops around.
If you own an LG or Sony Ericsson smartphone, you simply ought to head over to the Android Market and download the Box application. Once you set up an account on your LG smartphone, you should have access to their 50 GB storage level for free. Over the next few weeks, Sony Ericsson Xperia owners should see this benefit as well.
