Netflix’s Android app updates, features new Android Tablet UI

nexflix_android_tablet_ui

To coincide with the launch of the Amazon Kindle Fire and Barnes & Noble Nook Tablet, Netflix has unveiled a new tablet UI for Android devices. The redesigned interface provides a more immersive experience which allows users to view more titles on a single screen, but also replicates the functionality found on most gaming consoles which allows users to simply swipe left and right to view more titles in a specific category.

We’re all enjoyed Netflix on our Android devices for a while now, but we’re sure we can all agree that there have been a lot of growing pains along the way. Now that a dedicated tablet version of the app is available, we’re hoping the Netflix team will devote some time to revamping the UI for Android phones as well.

You can find the latest version of Netflix on the Android Market or the respective stores for the Nook Color Tablet and Amazon Kindle Fire. Once you give the updated app a try, leave us a comment below and let us know what you think.

I think Netflix needs to do a better job at spelling out which devices will be getting the new UI. The Android Market shows that there’s no Netflix update available for my HTC Flyer.

It’s only for real tablets, Nick ;)

Seriously though, the UI update was pushed on 11/8/11, but didn’t go live until today. It’ll probably push out to the Flyer as well. Patience, Nicky.

I down voted you because I don’t want to wait! But on a more positive note, I restarted my HTC Flyer, cleared the Netflix app data, relaunched it and was treated to the ui.

so you’re saying you downvoted me for being right?

          Good logic.

It’s not about being right (you always are). It’s about me wanting things right now! Now excise me for a few minutes while I go bug the crap out of HTC for not updating my Flyer to HC yet. :p

Video keep freezes every 6 to 8 times during a 45 minutes episode. I had to force close and restart the app again. I uninstalled and installed the app several times and issue still exit. Can you please fix this bug? it is becoming so frustrating.
