ASUS Transformer Prime to go on sale in US “a few weeks after” November 9 event

Transformer Prime

ASUS already told us about their Transformer Prime launch event on November 9, but many of us are still waiting to find out exactly when the world’s first quad-core Android tablet will go on sale in the US. According to the latest rumor from Fuad Abazovic of Fudzilla, we should expect to see the Transformer Prime go on sale “a few weeks after” the device is unveiled in Taiwan this week.

Fudzilla goes on to report that the Transformer Prime will be a priority product for the US market with other territories like “EU, Australia and probably even Asia” to follow at a later date.

Considering that we were first expecting Tegra 3 tablets in August (then September, then October and now November), I wouldn’t be surprised if “a few weeks after” actually translates into retail availability in December. Either way, those who are willing to spend the rumored $499 will be enjoying the fastest Android tablet this Christmas.

Who’s saving up for the Transformer Prime?

YAAAAAY! This is so my first tablet. Cant wait. Getting it (after solid reviews hopefully) and keyboard dock as soon as i feel its a safe purchase.

    • WarDrake

I’ll be sure to make you a review they day after they go on sale ;)

      • M3rc Nate

Thank you, i would love to hear Android blogs (Android&me in particular) and first day owners opinions and reviews.

Mainly cause i dont know yet but i doubt i will buy first release day. A purchase that huge ($500-600) i just dont feel comfy buying. Example in point is the Xoom, look at all the issues it had/has. Now i highly doubt there will be any issues but i want to be reassured by owners (like you) and blogs (like this one) before i commit that much cash.

Like iv said, i need solid reviews/opinions, a official statement and date on ICS from Asus (though if it doesnt ship day 1 with ICS i might just wait until it does) and i really hope for a official statement on future updates, and that it will get many.

We will be reviewing the Transformer Prime for sure.

  • WarDrake

    I am!
and i’m willing to stand in line to get it too!

I’ve been saving up ever since I heard about it. I have fought off the urge many times to buy the original, but it should be worth it. If they are going to wait till December it better come with ICS preinstalled.

    • http://androidandme.com Taylor Wimberly

Don’t get your hopes up. It is coming with Android 3.2 Honeycomb with Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich to follow “sooner than you think.”

I think it’d be awesome if they could figure out a way to actually have it transform, given the name. Like from a tablet to a laptop or something like that.

I’m surprised a bit at the name…I guess because they aren’t actually connecting it with Transformers and it’s not like they’re calling it ‘Optimus Prime’ or something that’s why they can name it what they did.

    • M3rc Nate

Do you not consider the keyboard dock that it can go into and then be a laptop/netbook to fit what your asking? Just curious. Watch the T-Prime announcement video a few T-Prime posts ago on here and he shows off it plugging into a keyboard dock that the tablet locks into. This dock was also available to the last gen Transformer.

      • mm

OK now I feel dumb….I should have watched first. My bad.

    • http://androidandme.com Taylor Wimberly

Uhhhh, it does transform into a laptop with the keyboard dock accessory…

      • M3rc Nate

Look at the main picture of this article MM, its the tablet in a awesome keyboard dock.

I give HUGE credit to Asus because i was watching youtube videos of the Eee Pad Transformer and its keyboard dock and i was DROOLING. You had to have made a AMAZING product (especially tech product) for someone to look at the OLD generation version and make them drool. I was going cross-eyed at just all the shortcut keys on the keyboard dock. I cant wait for the T-Prime.

Like I said, I didn’t gather enough info before posting. Sorry about that.

They also have the Slider that literally transforms.

Already sold my Galaxy 10.1 in anticipation. This and the Nexus Prime (that’s what I’m calling it) means I’m all “primed” for the holidays.

I’m very excited for this. My wife recently surprised me by saying she wants to get a tablet……so we may even get two!

  • uknowme

I want this more than Quagmire wants Lois!

I wish the pre-order options would start showing up!

I’m becoming furious with these release dates. Why can’t something actually be released BEFORE the week of Thanksgiving? I need it for travel and won’t compromise >:(

Ive got a question. Been coming here for years and this Fudzilla article mentions sources with no proof. Do they have a legit claim to this or is it just speculation. Usually you all have sources, scans, etc. Fudzilla doesn’t even call it Prime. He calls it the Transformer 2. It could still launch Wed. I think.

  • IhateLies

okay exactly how sure are we that fudzilla is reliable on this one?

  • Nukdookum

I too have been holding off for the past few months waiting for the “just in time for Christmas” new breed of tablets to come out before buying one. I have settled on this one and am waiting patiently (ok, maybe not so patiently) for this to go on sale or pre-order.

  • ezer

beautiful piece of engineering and design.

just can’t wait to put my hands on this, i hope i will win one on its (official?) forum (transformerprime.info), if not then have to buy it for christmas…

  • keen as bro

is it expected to be available in australia a good week or 2 before Christmas ?

  • Harold

The Prime will be sold in The Netherlands as from January 6th 2012. I have the Transformer-1 and I am quit happy with this device, but seeing the Prime I will sell mine and buy this one.
    Can’t wait for it.
