Not much has been known about the LG Nitro, but it happens to be the US version of the LG Optimus LTE, which was announced in Korea last October. We first thought it would probably hit Verizon as the LG Revolution 2, but someone beat them to the punch. AT&T’s LTE network wasn’t (and isn’t, really) that popular, but this carrier managed to get their hands on this device. Today, AT&T has finally announced the LG Nitro and the phone is not looking bad. It would be a great option for AT&T customers.
Two of its main features include LTE connectivity and its stunning display. The Nitro happens to have a similar display as the iPhone’s, which they call Retina Display. The iPhone’s screen is something Apple has always been proud of. This Advanced High-Performance IPS display is actually better, though. It happens to be bigger (4.5-inches) and the resolution is much better (1280×720, 329ppi). Let’s take a deeper look at the specs:
LG Nitro Specifications include:
- Android 2.3 Gingerbread
- 4.5-inch “True HD IPS” display
- TI OMAP 1.5 GHz dual-core processor
- 1 GB of RAM
- 20 GB of storage capacity – 4 GB of on board memory / 16 GB micro SD card
- 8 MP rear-facing camera
- 1.3 MP front-facing camera
- LTE connectivity / backed up by HSPA+ where LTE not available
- WiFi Direct, MHL, DLNA
Definitely not a bad device. The specs go head-to-head with the best Android devices out there. We are definitely hoping this device gets an Ice Cream Sandwich update relatively soon, though. The processor and RAM should keep the device running smooth, and that huge 4.5 display should definitely look stunning (like the Retina Display, but at 720p resolution). When can you get your hands on this device, though?
Well, if you are interested in getting AT&T’s 3rd 4G LTE device (and probably the best, for now), the LG Nitro will become available on December 4th, both in-store and online. And price goes for $249.99 on a 2-year contract. So, what do you say? Will you be getting this bad boy?
