AT&T wants to know if you would buy a Galaxy Nexus

Today is just a Nexus news kind of day. While trying to gain themselves some good press on their Google+ page (by linking to an Engadget article on how smartphones come to market), AT&T was swamped with a slew of comments on the Galaxy Nexus.

Comments about the Nexus are all over the place, ranging from desperate pleas, to demanding threats. And it’s finally got AT&T listening. They clearly don’t have any immediate plans to carry the Galaxy Nexus, saying that they “expected requests for this for the Samsung Galaxy Nexus which we do not have any new information to share,” but they are willing to entertain the idea.

It’s buried inside AT&T’s original post on smartphone testing, but they are looking for a headcount on just how many people would buy the Galaxy Nexus, should Ma Bell decide to sell the device.

Out of curiosity how many of you are interested in the Galaxy Nexus? Please +1 this comment so we can see the demand here on Google+ so we can share interest here with our product teams. Thank you.AT&T

Right now, around 1000 people have +1ed the post. It may not guarantee the Nexus’ release, but the more people that show their support for the device the better. We’ve already shared the post on the Android and Me Google+ page, so make sure you do the same.

To show your support for the Galaxy Nexus on AT&T, visit this Google+ post, and look for the comment a little ways down.

I would, but not from them.

      ditto. . .

If they have to ask then they are clueless about what’s going on with Android. Every carrier should want THE ONLY TRUE Android device that there is. . . . frackin idiots.

  • @BiGMER F

I plus one it earlier too and shared on gplus /twitter. Im not with att but i guess i will be at some point once they swallow up tmo.

    • Dustin Earley

What if they get the unlocked HSPA+ Nexus?

      • @BiGMER F

dustin by the time that happens we will have it through other means

        • Dustin Earley

Well, maybe for an extra couple hundred dollars.

          • @BiGMER F

true, but sometimes in life you have to go get it! im happy i preordered it a month ago. i avoided the price increases and go it for maybe about 75 more than i would have gotten it here after taxes. small price to pay for a lil exclusivity

  • Mark

I don’t have an AT&T line but I +1′d the post either way. The more carriers we see the Nexus on, the better. I fight with my Android brothers on the AT&T network.

BGR has been testing an HSPA+ version that works on either AT&T or T-Mobile with the right SIM card in it. Couldn’t Google just sell it unlocked without official carrier support like they did with the Nexus One and let people choose what carrier they want? I don’t care if T-Mobile and AT&T don’t support it, sell it or load it up with their bloatware as long as I can buy it and use it fully on either network. I would actually prefer it if they didn’t have anything to do with it. That’s one of the things I hate about Verizon and Sprint. They block any phone that isn’t sanctioned by them and that they don’t have their huge, grubby hands in. That’s really why the N1 never made it to either carrier. I’m sure the Nexus S 4G only made it to Sprint after Google made backroom agreements with them to get their approval. I’m sure that’s what has happened with the Galaxy Nexus on Verizon too. I hope Verizon doesn’t have exclusivity very long and Google just releases it unlocked.

    • @BiGMER F

im pretty sure there are some requirements

  • CJ LaFleur

Can you buy it unlocked from the carrier itself? Where are peoplie getting their gnex from the UK? Can someone post a reliable and trusted source’s link.

    • Chad

I too am going to buy mine through the UK I found this site that breaks down a couple vendors that are selling that ships to the U.S. I’ll probably wait until Dec though because most of these places still have it listed as preorder otherwise there’s always eBay as well.

I didn’t need it, and everyone I know who made an account never even logs on or uses it.

AT&T took that post down this morning!

Every post on their g+ page has nothing but Galaxy Nexus comments.

Hopefully they get the picture and bring the phone out soon!
