ASUS Eee Pad Transformer getting yet another timely update

asus-eee-pad-replace-630

ASUS has done an outstanding job giving us updates for the Transformer. There’s no doubt they’re keeping their customers happy with great hardware/software, affordable prices and timely updates. What else can we ask for, right?

The Transformer Prime could prove to be a great investment. And even though the first Tegra 3 tablet should be released soon, it doesn’t mean Asustek is giving up on the good ol’ Transformer. It seems there’s yet another update to come to the OG Transformer (version 8.6.5.18).

New features include App Backups and pre-installed Netflix (US only). Along with bug fixes and better WiFi connectivity, your tablet should become a bit more awesome. Here’s the rest of the update details:

ASUS is gaining many fans with their great products and support. At this rate, we wouldn’t be surprised if this tablet gets Ice Cream Sandwich soon.

Get ready to start checking those software updates! The update should be showing up soon, and you don’t want to be late for the party. Are you guys happy with the updates? Do you think the Transformer is getting Ice Cream Sandwich soon? Are you going for the upcoming Transformer Prime?

I made a very good choice with this tablet. Although I can’t help but think of the Transformer Prime.

The Transformer Prime does seem pretty amazing. You think you might be selling the current one to get the Prime? If you do not want to go through the hassle, rooting and overclocking could be another option. Even if it doesn’t happen to get the ICS update (I think it will), it could probably be ported over…

seriously thinking about using the amazon trade program and trading in my transformer in for a new one!

Don’t forget that new update adds App Backup to take some of the hassle out of transferring app and app data between the two. Sounds like Asus is even making the transitions between tablets easier. November 9th can’t come fast enough.

App backup doesn’t seem to work for me but it is a worthwhile feature to add to Android.

The thought of selling it has crossed my mind. The same goes for rooting and overclocking. Hard not to think of upgrading when technology keeps moving forward :-)

When is it going to be available ??
I tried to do a system upgrade, but it said that there is none
      at the moment ..
Any Date we might see this ..?
My company has 15 of these units, and I need to verify that staff are
      aware of this upgrade ..

While I would love to get a Transformer Prime, I am really hoping we see a good price drop on the current Transformer this Holiday season so I can get one. I have been using a rooted Nook Color with CM on it and absolutely love it. My biggest complaint is the screen size. Screen size is also the biggest reason I won’t get a Kindle Fire and $500 is too high a price point for me to justify on just a tablet.

    • Droid Dewd

Screen size was one of the reasons I sold my rooted Nook Color along with better overall performance. Glad I jumped to the TF haven’t regretted it for one second.

If Asus wanted to play smart they should reduce the price of the Transformer significantly. In the last couple of days it won a UK magazine award for gadget of the year. On the back of that alone they could sell a lot more tablets and rightly so. It is a great all around entertainment device. Takes the pain out of long flights!

Ill most likely buy another asus tablet because of the continued support from asus.

Like others, this is really making me lose ANY doubts in my future purchase of my (first) tablet to be Asus. They support their hardware even when its about to become outdated? Awesome. Especially if it gets ICS, it just goes to prove the type of company they are.

They really got the formula down on how to make tablets. (Same formula applies to phones too). Put cutting edge tech in your device (quad core, unlike the Xoom 2). Support the hardware with software and OS updates constantly even after a new generation comes out, put out awesome accessories for your devices, and build your devices with great quality so they dont ship with a ton of bugs (Xoom). And give the consumers everything they want in ONE tablet: 10 inches, cutting edge specs, ports and expansion slots and more.

Pretty much sign me up for a Transformer Prime Wifi with keyboard dock purchase.

If the way ASUS keeps the original Transformer updated is any indication, then I will be very happy with my TF2. ASUS is really doing a great job. Hopefully more manufacturers get their heads in the game and do the same…

I think I speak for everyone when I say, Asus needs to make phones too.

I’m excited that being sn early adopter of the Transformer hasnt come back to bite me on the butt, so far. Kudos to Asus for leading the charge on how all companies should handle updates. If i werent so happy with my current Transformer, I’d definitely be on bord to buy the TF Prime.

I can’t wait for the Transformer Prime. I love the fact they update things quickly and have heard positive things from Transformer users. I have the Xoom and will never buy another Moto product again.

It’s nice to see this blow away phones, but can we see some comparisons to other tablets? Like the dreaded iPads? If it’s gonna be billed as the iPad killer, I wanna see how bad it slays it!

      lol. oops. wrong blog!

I’m glad they’re fixing polaris office. The last update caused my physics and calculus books to give low memory errors. I had to resort to perfect viewer for my large pdf’s.

I knew there was a reason I traded in my Iconia tab for the transformer! The updates come on a regular basis and I couldn’t be happier with my asus!
