Smartphones are always different in day-to-day use than they seem to be on paper. Some come with impressive specs, but lack impressive performance and vice versa. While the HTC Sensation XL does not have the top specs in the market, its performance and amazing display are sure to please.
We were quite impressed with this device after using it at CTIA in San Diego this year. Specs include a 1.5 GHz single-core processor, 768 MB of RAM, an 8 MP camera and front facing camera, as well as a 4.7-inch display. The device also comes packed with Android 2.3.5 Gingerbread, HTC Sense 3.5 and Beats Audio. It’s very responsive, and the display is impressive. It does not fall short compared to dual-core devices with 1 GB of RAM.
The HTC Sensation XL is one of the most exciting devices from this manufacturer. The phone has not yet launched in America, but it is now available to our European friends through Three and Clove. The first carrier offers it for free with a 2-year, £40 per month contract, while the second offers it contract-free at a price of £486 (unlocked/including VAT).
It’s nice to hear that there’s a SIM-unlocked version available for those who would be willing to import it. It should be fairly easy to get an HTC Sensation XL from Clove and use it in the US (or any other market). Beware, though. £486 translates to about $775 USD. Would anyone be willing to shell out the off-contract price to get this device? Are any of our European readers getting it?
