Zen Studios releases Zen Pinball THD for Tegra devices

zenpinballthd

Zen Studios has announced the release of their Zen Pinball THD application for Tegra devices. Zen Pinball THD is a modern take on the classic pinball game, with all the gameplay basics you’ve come to expect from pinball games and a mix of games that will keep the game interesting – for a price.

Zen Pinball THD is a free application that leans heavily on in-app purchases. The game includes one game board for free (the same Sorcerer’s Layer table that is found in the PS3 counterpart), but if you want to play on a different game board, you’ll have to shell out an extra $2. They will be releasing game boards on a regular basis, and the main screen suggests that as many as 9 game boards will be available very soon.

We will have a full review of Zen Pinball THD over the next few weeks as we test out a few of the game boards. For now, if you own a Tegra device and are interested in Zen Pinball, you should head over to the market to download the free application.

Anyone out there planning to check this game out? If you do, let us know what you think.

I normally don’t get too excited about pinball games, but I may try this one out. It looks pretty cool.

I’ve been seeing more of this “first bite free” type of apps, but $2 per board is a little ridiculous.

Does anyone know if they are able to sell that many at the same price on the PS3?

    • http://www.anthonydomanico.com Anthony Domanico

I don’t know what their sales model is on the PS3, but when I get home tonight I can check that out if you’d really like me to (fortunately, I have a PS3) hah.

    • ZRod

In app purchases ate always ridiculous. I guess these games think they are a can of pringles; Once you pop, you can’t stop

  • NegativeOne13

If they have a Marvel game board…. they HAVE to have a DC game board as well.

    • http://www.anthonydomanico.com Anthony Domanico

right now it’s wolverine and fantastic four, but we expect more soon.

  • AndroidCowboy

Android Market say it’s compatible with my Galaxy Tab 10.1 but when I try to install from my tablet it say otherwise. Anyone else having the same issue.

    • http://www.anthonydomanico.com Anthony Domanico

I reached out to the Dev, who reported that they’re having some issues with the Galaxy Tab. A fix should be coming soon.

      • AndroidCowboy

        Great, thank for the info.

  • ranwanimator

I think after very few people bite on the additional board they’ll drop the price to a more reasonable and expected $0.99. It’s next to impossible to charge anything more than that for apps anymore. The culture just won’t support it.

  • SuperAndroid

    Another incompatible game… yay!

  • Kaote

Been enjoying the free board for a few days now, game play is good enough to consider buying additional boards.

  • stenzor

Did anyone have the Windows Pinball sound effects going off in their head as they read this?… I did

    • goodevilgenius

      Ditto.

    • thechad

      Ditto.

  • aj

WOW!! that game looks totally wicked. Really getting me amped for possibly getting a tegra 3 device and endadgets review didnt help me much either in swaying me from not buying it.

  • thaghost

Dowloaded it last night. It is not great. Pinball HD is much much better.

  • Pinballer

Seems pretty cool, right on time for when I get my Xoom this Saturday. :) At least it lets you try for free, if you want another board pay the 2 bucks, if you don’t want to pay, don’t. Simple. What is 2 bucks anyway? 10…9…8….7…6….oh look I just made 2 more bucks.

  • wzietek9

I just don’t like it. Playing pindball I can’t see any sense in that!

  • charliethesuperturtle

As long as my ball repels when it hits invisable lady, I’m alright with buying this ;D

  • cheeseasaurus

After playing for a bit I’m slightly disappointed. For being a Tegra zone app, it just doesn’t seem to showcase the tegra2 capabilities like the rest of the games in there. Sure, it’s pinball, I guess you can’t expect it to eyepopping.

  • Azaurath

Wish I could play it. That’s all.
Well maybe if I win this GTab AndMe is giving away!

  • Luke Haviland

    It’s an awesome game.

  • neskasi

This looks stunning. Now… I just need to get my hands on a Transformer Prime…

  • ToonPanda

    I really need a tegra tablet! :(

  • JC005

Pinball is a perfect game for phones/tablets. Quick and to the point, not much to think about just pick it up and get your game on.

  • Vipitus

  • sylar

Now if only i had a Tegra device. My friend does and I like this game but It’s not compatible with mine.

  • Crash27

It is a good game, I just hope they do not start making all the newest best games for Tegra 3 like the Glow Ball

  • eioous

I need me a Tegra device sooo bad

  • Oskar Wismierski

now we gotta wait for the non tegra version.. ;/ or just get a tegra device :P

  • Danthes24

  • Albert Altman

I am so glad i bought a tegra 2 device as soon as it came out. My LG 2x makes me happy :)

  • phaet2112

It works well on the G2x, but surprisingly is faster on the tegra 2 tablet, likely because of the optimized display size.

  • HoLfElDeR

It is awesome, pinbal is one of my favorite games

  • AndroidCowboy

Finally got the app working on my Tab and reviewed it for our site. http://bit.ly/tjr3V5
