Hang out with Matias Duarte on Google+ at 4:30 PM ET

Matias Duarte

Later today, Dan Lyons of The Daily Beast will host a live 30 minute conversation with Matias Duarte, the computer-interface designer and user-experience lead for Android. If you’re lucky, you can catch the interview live at 4:30 PM ET on The Daily Beast’s Google+ page, but only 9 people can join a hang out at a time. Thankfully, The Daily Beast will record the entire event and make it available at a later date.

To recap:

If you are unable to tune in live, you can also go back and watch Matias Duarte’s appearance on the first episode of On The Verge or check out his thoughts on Android’s new typeface Roboto. What questions would you have for Matias if you get into the live interview?

    i have a question.

why cant we watch a hangout live? just not interact unless you are in the hangout.

and what does he think or the verizon debacle

    • Daniel Brierton

I’ve seen a few Hangouts being livestreamed on YouTube, but I don’t know if just anyone can do that unfortunately.

Yeah, they have done that a few times, but never rolled it out for wider availability.

I am curious on his thoughts about the delays as well. I wonder if Google gets upset as the rest of us. It would be nice to see them take a stand on it and show some emotions on our side.

  • Daniel Brierton

Finally! An interesting hangout. It’s always been the likes of rappers, models, and muppets.

I’ll definitely try get into this.

Seriously! This is a rare occasion, I will definitely be at the hangout. :)

This guy is as close as you can get to Android Royalty. Him and Cyanogen.

  • Kevin Amundson

Bummer. I’m busy at that time. I’ll have to find the recorded event to watch later.

  • Bryan Stoner

He seems like a cool guy. I wonder if he will give us a timeline of his thoughts from Cupcake up to Ice Cream Sandwich.

  • Aaron Kemp

Interesting, might get involved in this.

I would ask him what are the small bits of work gone into ICS that make a big difference.

And the award for most awesome picture of Matias Duarte goes to…

    Seriously, what a character.

Reminds me of Neil Patrick Harris as Dr. Horrible

Honestly reporters need to start asking everybody involved with Android why Microsoft pushes out Windows updates uniformly to all hardware platforms, but Google doesn’t distribute updates like that and then talk about the security implications of not just feature updates, but security updates not being applied.

I know it’s not really his deal but I’d ask about a Google Music API. The app is terrible. The day I can get all my cloud music goodness on power amp I’ll be a very happy boy

    • inviolable

The app is terrible? I think all it needs is an equalizer, a lock screen widget, and the ability to download album art. Though power amp is the business.

      • http://theinternet-allofit.blogspot.com Jorge Branco

Ok terrible is an exaggeration. It might just be because my HTC legend is a little under powered (ok a lot!) or because I’m using a leaked apk but I find most times when I open the app it takes a good 5 seconds to reload all my cloud music. Do you have that problem?

        • inviolable

No mine loads up pretty much instantly. Why would you be using a leaked apk? The current version is available in the market. Or is that just a US thing or something?

          • http://theinternet-allofit.blogspot.com Jorge Branco

Yeah it’s a US thing. No love from google down here in Australia

        • geiko

          Nope

  • inviolable

If I was making his kinda money, I would where that shirt too.

    Great photo!
I’d ask how far ahead the plans in his head are for android, in terms of years or versions.

Man. I so wish I was 18. I have a Google+ account but if they see me on the hangout I’m afraid they’ll get rid of my account.. :( Google has always my dream job!

I can’t wait to hear what he has to say about the whole Verizon debacle.
