Day 2, Win a Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1

2-samsung-galaxy-tab-10-1

At the risk of stating the painfully obvious: Man! You guys like free stuff! Yesterday we started the 25 Days of Tegra with a Tab 8.9 and over 1,700 of you entered to win. We want an even bigger and better Day 2, so we called in the Samsung Papa Bear, the Tab 10.1

The Prize: Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1

Highlights of the Galaxy Tab 10.1 include a 10.1-inch LCD display, dual-core 1 GHz Tegra 2 processor, 1 GB RAM, 3 MP rear camera, 2 MP front camera, 802.11 b/g/n WiFi and Bluetooth 3.0. This is the WiFi only model.

Contest Rules

This contest is open to residents of the United States, Canada, Europe and Australia. Entries will be accepted for 23 hours after the contest goes live. We’ll announce the winner on the calendar page and on our Twitter account as soon as we draw.

How to Enter

For day 2, we’re keeping things easy with just a comment contest. To enter to win, simply leave a comment below answering the question:

What would you like to see in the next-generation version of the Galaxy Tab?

Samsung has consistently delivered on a family of tablets, and we are curious what features you guys want to see next. Everyone that answers the question will be entered into a random drawing, with each user receiving a single entry.

Good luck!

  • CyberDracula

I will like to see a better/bigger battery and maybe quad core CPU :)

  • capenne

a tactile touch screen like Sensegs would be a good way to bring something new to the table, also, cheaper would be nice.

  • daboma

    I want it….
I’d like to see some sort of 3D technology in a tablet. Not sure if the Tab is the one to do it, but that might be a cool feature!

  • foaman

    Affordability!!!

  • eioous

I would really LOVE to see a Transporter in the next-gen SG Tab….Beam me up, Scotty!!!

  • drauks

Pure, Touchwiz free, Google ICS experience.

  • http://idyllicdaydreams.blogspot.com Jeice

Personally, I’ve been watching to much Futurama and want a small Tab that’s wrist mountable. Who wouldn’t? That’d be amazing.

The new Tegra 3 processor would be amazing, but I think the biggest thing I want is tight integration with the software and hardware. Probably the only thing I’m jealous of on Apple products.

  • ellett

full size USB with host capability
    micro USB

1080×1920 Super Amoled screen with Gorilla Glass

and of course ICS with no uninstallable bloatware

  • mikedminor

At least a WUXGA display resolution SAMOLED+ or IPS, modular & user replaceable SoC main processor, SD card support, user installable 3G or 4g carrier specific modules, 2.4Ghz & 5Ghz 802.11na wifi support, a 10/100/1000 MB Ethernet adapter and finally an integrated network printing option!

Is that really asking too much here, Santa?

  • Mettafox

I would like see in the next generation of Galaxy Tab:

Exynos Quad-Core processor up to 1.5 Ghz or Nvidia Tegra 3 up to 1.5 Ghz
Super AMOLED Full HD Plus with full 3D screen
    USB 3.0 port
    Wireless/LAN for LAN party
    Bluetooth 4.0
    2GB of RAM
    12 MP rear HD camera
    5 MP front camera
    Better battery
Reduction the margins of the screen
    More slim
    Keyboard dock with battery
    Wi-Fi model 802.11n

If the new Galaxy Tab version bring these specifications, will definitely the best tablet Android and around.

  • HackerAce

  • damambt

Make this my early Christmas present!

  • M

a pure nexus version. that’s all

  • Msiarny

I would like to see the next gen galaxy tab have ICS, more ram, a Tegra 3, and more storage. The more the merrier.

  • ericwilborn

HDMI out would be great. Also, how about ditching the iDevice-like charging port and bringing something like micro USB?

  • hopscotchjunkie

Quad core processor, HDMI-out, full size USB port, ICS; I’d basically like it to be a Transformer Prime. Touchwiz I can live without, although I guess I can always just stick CyanogenMod* on it to sort that out.

Ooh, and it would have to have the necessary bluetooth drivers to allow Wii controllers to connect to play games; I see some of the newer Samsung phones have gone the same way as HTC and implemented some sort of incompatible proprietary rubbish, and we can’t be having that. Although again I guess I can always just stick CyanogenMod* on it to sort that out.

    *other custom firmware is available.

  • Cole Loomis

    Ports( HDMI, SD)

  • CTown

I hope the next Tab just brings out a super high screen resolution, similar to the one on the Mac Book Air.

  • adaam93

A quad core processor would make the next Tab almost perfect.

  • lonndoggie

As close to a pure “Google Experience” ROM as possible…so that new versions come quickly, without having to root.

Lots of RAM–given the Tegra-n (where n is the latest) processor, don’t want lack of RAM to slow down the party.

Lots of storage–apps gettin’ bigger, media gettin’ bigger.

    Awesome battery life.

Textured back so’s I don’t lose my grip.

And speaking of grip…having it actually in my hands would be key.

  • http://www.facebook.com/stevrodriguez96 StevRodriguez

    Android 4.0
mirco HDMI & micro USB port
    micro SD card slot
    mini dock with keyboard
    wireless charging
    & S pen

  • lefunkay

Tegra 3, quad core, hdmi and a long battery life would do it for me – also in honor of the twitter comment – I want free stuff! I actually that’s what I would want most in the next generation, free tablets! Merry almost christmas

Samsung Exynos 2ghz quad core cpu, 2gb ddr3 ram, 32gb storage with micro sd slot, 1080 resolution, the new Lithium battery (with 10x the life), super sensitive wifi reception, lightweight, available keyboard, front camera only (hey I really don’t need a back camera on my tablet (which is usually covered by my case anyways)., Android Jelly Donut (is that right?), standard usb ports and HDMI port. Forget the 3D thing…most people don’t want or need it on their phones/tablets.

  • spazby

I want it to have everything….

  • jaymcp

I would really like to see some usb options and a sd card slot.. oh and ICS of course!

  • Codz

I would like to see some usb ports, maybe an sd slot. I would also like to see some gorilla glass. Maybe some kevlar. Who wouldnt want kevlar on the tablet. Also a better camera.

  • aykutb

    this comment is awesome.

  • Buff

HDMI out and a long lasting battery.

  • kenzington4short

I want the one with the more geebees. =]

I’d want to see ICS, higher resolution, and a SD card slot.

  • jnflores

Other than the obvious (ICS, better display, better battery life, more storage, sd slot, hdmi, etc)… I’d like Samsung to do something special or interesting to set it apart from the now obnoxious “slate” form factor.

Or at least partner with some company to have more features (like Box.net is doing with Sony/LG phones). Maybe free Spotify unlimited? Something along those lines.

  • gstorrs

ICS, Quad Core, 64 GB or more of storage, the best HD display, cheaper price tag.

  • Dan

    eligible for free stuff

  • http://oldschooljunkie.com SocialGamer

The tablet market is growing and with that I would like to see the next Galaxy Tab have an HD front facing camera, 3D (glasses free) screen, other than that the usual features more ram faster cpu/gpu and stable OS.

    Good Luck everyone.!

  • gregdv

Quad core, Kickstand, Thinner, Assorted colors, Usb, Ethernet port, 4gb ram, 100gb rom

    Uh.

    QUAD CORE.

  • hihihehe

New Exynos Dual(or quad) Core 2Ghz, ICS, Super Amoled + Full HD screen, 1 full usb slot, minimize TW skin, memory card slot, 1.5GB ram,

  • hyperforce3

    quad core, ics, nice camera

  • hyperforce3

    a sick camera and hdmi

  • beemboy

I think a fold out screen to halve the tablet in size to make it compact would be fantastic. For eg., a 5″ tablet that folds out to be a 9″ tablet (I know the math is off :-)

  • jeffsanace

I would just love to see it in my hands! Sd support wouldn’t hurt either.

  • RJvXP

I would like to see quad-core and an awesome GPU

  • advil0

    ICS + a better camera!

  • TheHunterOfShadows

Quad core would be sweet. Call me lame, but if I won something like this I would probably give it to my in laws. A PC is too difficult for them. This would be great!! And to get them on android would be awesome!!

  • ralphwiggum1

On a future tablet, I would like extensive video output options including one standard for wireless video and mirroring, whether its an extension of DLNA/AllShare or similar to WiDi. I also want more RAM and more processing power, but I also want a smaller variety of devices, or very little variance in the devices (i.e. different sizes as long as tech specs are the same across devices). If something like this could be standardized acorns devices within Android itself, it would definitely boost the platform with native TV-out and surround sound support.

A minimum resolution of 1080p would also be nice.

    • ralphwiggum1

      Standardized across devices *

    • ralphwiggum1

I would also like to add improving the interaction with the touch screen. Multiple touch points was a step forward, but it can be expanded with true pixel to pixel touch mapping and pressure sensitive interactions. I believe Sanding is already introducing a stylus friendly tab which may have pressure sensor in the stylus (as seen at Adobe MAX).

      • ralphwiggum1

And that should be Samsung, not Sanding

    • ralphwiggum1

      Just to summarize and reiterate:

Standardize more features across android, and as a close partner and nexus hardware designer, samsung can help. These include advanced multimedia features such as multiple display support.

Don’t just add raw power and no true innovation. Add worthwhile additions or gamechangers in the interface. Every device has had a flat touchscreen. Create a truly natural touch environment with pixel perfect sensors and pressure sensitivity.

And focus on developing less devices. Slower production can give consumers peace of mind that their devices won’t be obsolete right after release and allow Samsung to focus on perfecting what they do release. Keep other devices for inhouse testing and prototyping. Too much choice can be confusing. And too many devices manufactured can be expensive.

  • eon69nc

i would suggest stock ics along with business apps to make the tablet more business friendly

  • Futureboy

ICS! And a touch to focus camera like on the HTC Flyer.

  • trappdaddy

I’d ditch my notepad at work.

  • Jorge89

I would like it to have a quad core of course, something to set it apart from the rest? a ridiculously low price tag.

  • taketheleap

I seem to be adding to the pile: a quad core would be the next big step for me, so that’s my #1 vote. Second, I’d go with a full 1080p screen and video camera. Third, low price. Well, lower than say an Apple product.

  • kelphonic

hdmi should have been there and of course now there should be ics

  • sgtponce

I would like to see longer battery life, more ram, 8 mp cameras, and how about a slid out keyboard. Oh, and a low price! LOL

  • Chrislewissd

Just one simple suggestion for the next gen tab:

Implement those bendable screens and show the industry how to really make a foldable tablet. Wouldn’t that be amazing to pull out a 10.1 tab from your pocket???

  • reygo

I’d like to see all the obvious upgrades with battery life, processing power, storage, connectivity, screen resolution (maybe 3D), but I was also thinking it’d be cool if you had one awesome camera that could flip around to be both front and rear facing.

  • keithp

I wouldn’t mind a graphics stylus and a lower price.

  • kilokahn25

Quad processor, hdmi, attractive styling & full hd.

  • http://about.me/willfanguy AvantGuard

Def a lower price and a 4G chip. Can they do that?

  • lestersanchez86

I think all Samsung tablets are the best all around right now, it will be great if they can add 3D led HD screens with or without glasses it will be the bomb, and more round and enhance icons, but but that will be just extras, up to now nothing stand near there products I have to say I been very happy with my my first galaxy tab it has battle wounds from constant work I do with it, and I will love to upgrade but I have no funds for it no I will love to be the lucky guy to get this new one if not well guys keep it up your products are amazing I hope to see more amazing things to come, FYI iPad sucks.

  • KingCrow02

ICS, better battery life, higher res HD screen, and mini-HDMI port.

  • anikko

I’d like to see some major game studios bring there games to tablets. Like uncharted, battlefield, call of duty… Etc.

  • PrinterPaper

I would love to see attempts at different form factors. I’m not sure anything would work better than the usual squares or rectangles, but an interesting form factor with great performance could really set a Samsung tablet a part from the rest.

  • http://youtube.com/patsandsoxfan5 Alex Carlson

    Comment

  • Johnston212

Hopefully this isn’t too late, but I would agree with most people: ICS, probably a Tegra 3 processor, actual ports, but I would also add 3D Capabilites, like 3D picture taking and the stereoscopic screen.

  • Luke Haviland

who won? i’d say we all win if Samsung can lower the price to match the transformer.

  • smisa27

a few things i would like to see in the next samsung galaxy 10 would be of course tegra 3 processor so it can handle much of the new features from ics which would HAVE to be on there. another thing i would like to see integrated into tablets is nfc. if i could transfer files/pictures/maps/etc from my phone to my tablet, that would be just even moreso awesome!

  • http://www.peterson-tech.com/~jlp/ jlp

I’d love to see the new Mirasol display technology.

  • minimage

Gonna have to agree with the folks who mention HDMI!

  • MdKnight

I’m too late for this one, aren’t I?
