Verizon wireless promotion, double your data plan for same price. for example $30 for 4GB instead of 2GB,2817,2395966,00.asp

LOL I’m such a nerd that I call my local Verizon store and asked if they have the phone in the store or if i have to order online, if there was a line etc… Oh did i mention I already have SGSII and I’m on AT&T and have no plans to buy this phone, I’m just really excited about ICS!!!

Finally. This must have been a PR disaster for Google within the US. Verizon tries to control its devices way too mcuh.

    • levigarret

      Shoulda started with Sprint!

    • Gabe

Hopefully Google has learned its lesson and will NEVER release another Nexus phone on Verizon. Shame on you Verizon!

    • Arturo Castro

I wonder what the hold up was?

      • BusyGuest

Probably a thing Verizon had with Apple…saying that Verizon can’t announce or promo any Google Nexus devices til the day before release.

    • Jorge Branco

Verizon definitely messed up bad here. You know somethings up when it comes out down haste in Australia before you guys get it.

Yes, not everyone is into intentionally gimped phones

  • AvatarZ

Now if only I could get that secret $100 discount

    • nwilliam3

According the my local store that discount is for customers in former Alltel service areas only. Maybe somebody else can get a better answer, but that is what I got.

  • nwilliam3

Talked to the local store this morning. They have mine put aside for me to pick-up in the morning!

    • lxgeorge

I am very jealous. And until then you can use the Galaxy Nexus simulator to learn how to do things like access the notifications panel and enable Wi-Fi!

    • Jimwy901

Called the store this am and they didn’t have a clue. Called this afternoon after reading the announcement here and yes there were suppose to get them tomorrow or Friday. Asked if I could reserve one and Devon (sales guy) had to ask his manager, came back and said “no problem” I’ll call you when they come in.

  • jamal

The never ending story has coming to a close. YES!!

Yes and opening a new chapter…the Samsung Galaxy Nexus Max releasing December 16…

      ….although delays seem iminent…

  • keridel

  • Futureboy

I was just playing around with the simulator. It’s mainly an Android basics Tutorial. The execution leaves a lot to be desired. It’s sort of watching a film-strip of a Transformers movie. The information is there, but they’ve taken all of the high-end production value out of it.

finally after how many weeks no wait months, well at least it’s tomorrow when they wade it official, another few days of waiting would made it another fail in my honest opinion.

  • Billy

  • Cody Riddar

Good, now maybe the rest of the newer phones can get official ICS upgrade releases rolling out.

  • NegativeOne13

    • Billy

Yeah … I was looking for that option also … at least it is official now.

  • HoLfElDeR

    Thank God

  • plasmoidia

So… why does the press release say “today” instead of tomorrow or 12/15? Still nothing on the website about it.

Also interesting that this is 32GB version. I wonder if the 16GB version will be available later on for a lower cost.

  • triangle

Wow, it’s about f***in’ time! Maybe they were feeling the pressure and were wary of the wrath of soooo many people who would have chewed them out if they put off the launch AGAIN. I’m glad it’s finally announced and will be here tomorrow.

  • zyphbear

Finally! I can’t wait to get it! lets hope they fixed all the issues that delayed it!

  • Jason Toering

    About damn time!

  • Hall Lo

    LOL finally! :)

  • tpulu

Its about time….. Oh well, now that’s is finally releasing, let’s all brace for the storm of comments on what’s wrong with it lol. There’s bound to be some complaints.

  • pekosROB

    Was that so hard Verizon?

I can’t believe they didn’t even allow pre-ordering. This has got to be one of the WORST releases for a handset in recent memory, if not of all time. No official word until the last minute… and honestly, I wouldn’t hold my breath until I see a “add to cart” or “out of stock” button on the Verizon website.

But yay for everyone who is looking forward to this device! Go have yourselves a merry little Christmas… or Hanukuh, or Kwanza, or just winter cheer. Whatever, go have fun!

  • Nate

Called my local store and this is news to them. They won’t even confirm whether or not they even have them in stock. Of course I do live in North Dakota and technology isn’t really these peoples strong point.

  • lxgeorge

FINALLY something gets set in stone

  • pwntastic

lol called my local store and they told me i couldnt reserve one. then again the guy said he had only just found out a few minutes back that they were even going on sale

  • FutureShock

Great Christmas gift for my Verizon friends. Took long enough. Now I’m just crossing my fingers that it will be announced for AT&T soon. I seen the videos of the Touchwiz ICS skin that surfaced today, and I want a pure Google device.

  • AndyE

do we know for sure that VZ’s exclusivity is for 1 month only? come on Tmo!

  • Louis A

oooooooooooooo weeeee! Maybe I am just dreaming lol. Getting in line first thing in the morning.

    • Louis A

      Baye Tmo…

For a limited time, when customers subscribe to a 4G smartphone data plan, they will receive double the amount of data for the same monthly fee. The promotion applies to new contract customers purchasing Verizon Wireless 4G LTE smartphones which would include upgrades. A person getting the 2GB for $30 a month will receive 4GB of data for $30. This promotion is available through the holidays so customers purchasing the Galaxy Nexus will have the chance to take advantage of this.

  • pechano

Nice. I hope you will all enjoy it! Greetings from Europe :)

  • mikesuds

    Good news, everyone!

  • jenskristian

    Finally! Next topic.

  • cvette83

And the waiting game continues for the rest of us not with Verizon. I’ll take it as a good sign that they’re closer to making their own announcements (especially T-Mobile).

  • TJungus

Called to reserve from Verizon, “We do not reserve phones. They are offered on a first come, first served basis.” Called Best Buy, “We have not received any of that phone in stock.” Looks like I need to camp out in front of the Verizon store…

Out with the old, in with the new. Yahoo!

  • NegativeOne13

    1 AM which time zone?

  • staryoshi

Congrats to those who have been waiting for it :) If I had access to an unlimited data plan on Verizon, I would have waited… but alas, I did not. Sprint it is for me! :P

  • Ilyse Rose

    Everyone’s so happy again!

  • Wilson Lara

So when is the T-mobile version coming?

  • dacatalyst41

This ranks up there with my wedding day and the birth of my child!

  • dacatalyst41

Doesn’t this make the announcement earlier weird? So you wait til the day after forever to say anything….then you say we will announce it when it’s ready…to come back and officially announce it later that day?! o_0

  • federalreserve

WOOT!!! It’s about time!!! Early combined birthday and Christmas present here I come!

  • Anthropic

Why do US carriers have such an obsession with branding phones?

Seems really strange, you don’t get your new car with a big logo from the company you purchased it through. Your food from the supermarket doesn’t come re-packaged in their logo either, just don’t get it other than for that 1x1inch of advertising space no one ever sees anyway.

  • jordanfritzsche

This is so lame! Sure, I love the phone, but it should not be $299! I’m tired of Verizon thinking it can do this. I can maybe understand the Rezound being that price since they come with a $100 pair of headphones, but the Razr and Nexus have no reason to be $299.

    • anikko

compare it to the 32gb iPhone. same price but the nexus kills the iPhone.

  • NegativeOne13

    Ordered mine now.

  • Joseph Banks

i may just cop it today. been waiting, and i think i get a $50 discount with my upgrade

  • Jeff

is verizon making anyone else drop their unlimited plan?

  • mojeda

Shows it’s available for me to buy right now.

  • Omar Santiago

And no back to our regularly scheduled programming …

  • evobb10

Finally in US but $299 on 2 year contract with lack of unlimited data plan hmmmmm sorry VW

  • smisa27

I can’t believe it’s actually about a month since we saw the reveal and been anxiously waiting for it. It’s about time. But I can’t even upgrade yet, so I’ll be waiting patiently til my upgrade.

  • dafi81

    it’s not exactly a bargain?

  • SGB101

    to late,

ive held off getting this, im in the UK, im waiting for the SG3, if im going to keep a device for 18 month i want my next to be quad core.

  • Diego Leon

Does off contract mean unlocked or just mean no contract but Verizon only still?

  • Robert Whittaker

Can’t believe it costs £299 on a 2 year contract, for once I’m glad I’m in the UK. 18 month contract = free phone!

  • ld6772

Just waiting for the Transformer Prime release and the year will be complete!

  • mclarensr

    GSM version please.

  • vitebsk66

Good grief! This thing’s got specs on par with current tablets!

  • kimminer1

Yeah, finally…now can we move on?

  • http://Note Uncemister

Now we can move on to things that really matter. Like Droid 4 release or when bionic and razr get ICS.

  • Oshawott

They should have unlimited data for $15 for all of the trouble that Verizon has given all of the people that wanted this phone. :/

  • donchanau

Sweet! Now we just need a tegra3 galaxy tab :-)

  • TAN5150

WOW what a great phone. Just moved my family over from ATT to Verizon. I am just amazed at how much better this new Google phone is compared to an iPhone 4s, which my wife and daughter went with. However my son went with an HTC.
Traded my phone in and got the galaxy for $50.00. The new in store trade program worked great for us.

    Now we can move on…

  • xaerosum
