ASUS announces Eee Pad MeMO

ASUS has officially launched the Eee Pad MeMO at the 2012 Consumer Electronics Show. The Eee Pad MeMO is a smaller, 7-inch tablet that will run Android 4.0.1 Ice Cream Sandwich when it launches in Q2 2012. The full specs:

  • 7.0-inch WXGA IPS display with 1280×800 resolution
  • 1.2GHz Qualcomm 8260 dual-core processor
  • 1GB RAM
  • 16 or 32GB ROM with ASUS Webstorage options
  • 5MP rear camera with HD video capture
  • 1.2MP front facing camera

No word yet on the Eee Pad MeMO pricing and¬†availability, though we expect ASUS won’t price this tablet higher than their Transformer Prime models, which start at $500. The MeMO will likely come in the $350-400 range for the 16GB variant, though ASUS could surprise us by going lower to target the Kindle Fire price point.

The Eee Pad MeMO will be available in the 2nd quarter of 2012. Anyone out there interested in picking one of these up, or will it really depend on the price point?

I’d buy THAT for a dollar….. I like the 7″ tablets. Especially when they are trying to innovate ways to make them more useful. Me gusta la Stylus.

if its sub 300.. its a steal

    • jawabba

For sure. Its a better unamazonized 7″ tab that should be super successful.

I want quad core tablets, forget duals…

  • Zeratoda1

idk i think the dual core killed my “want” factor but that could easily change with pricing so fingers are crossed for a semi cheap tablet :D

    • TaoRenCe

Ditto. I’ll be keeping an eye out for pricing as well as web previews for this one.

  • jakkuz

without GSM modem? Not for me, then.

  • msgnyc

Did they remove the quad band GSM/UMTS radios???
What about the bluetooth communicator peripheral? Was it axed???

I’ve been waiting for this thing forever, and now they give us even less info then they did before. What kind of announcement is that?

    How about $199?

Pretty slick looking tablet, but I prefer a focus on landscape use over portrait for a tablet. Still looks nice.

  • honourbound68

Hope it’s going to be no more than 250

  • aykutb

i believe this will be cheaper and will challange kindle fire

Ok $249.00 is the price and with what they did to me on the transformer debacle I will pass for now. I’ve never repeat never had an apple product but with the way Asus is operating now this might be the time… when the I pad 3 comes out. Did anyone else hear that those of us who expected the tf prime for x mas, and got dumped on, is now out but has significant issues, and is in revision already. Call it the tf-201 and a half. Oh and because they were unable to supply on schedule they have rewarded us with a hundred dollar price increase. now 599-699 when they ship. how lovely to treat those of us who ordered (paid) and didn’t get our product with a price increase. does anyone get that I’m pissed off with the way they treated me as an early adopter with no product.

It looks nice and it has a stylus, but the 7” don’t give me much. I need a 10”. But finally thay are lowering the prices of tablets, that’s great.

  • Pete Down Under

The price here in AU will be a big factor in my decision.
