Amazon offering Galaxy Nexus for $99 to new customers

We don’t often post good deals (we usually just share such news through social networks), but this one is hard to pass by. If you’re looking to purchase Google’s Samsung Galaxy Nexus on Verizon’s network, Amazon is now offering the device for only $99.99. This is $200 less than what Verizon is currently selling it for.

This deal is not applicable to just anyone, though. As assumed, you will have to sign a 2-year contract, but that’s not the only requirement. The first Android 4.0 smartphone will only run for $99 if you happen to be a new Verizon Wireless customer. This means the price will be higher when upgrading or adding new lines to a current family plan.

Even then, the prices are still cheaper via Amazon. The Samsung Galaxy Nexus goes for $259.99 when upgrading your device, and only $179.99 when adding a line to your family plan. Also, the purchase qualifies for free 2-day shipping, so no need to worry about those matters.

If you’re looking to switch to Verizon and this phone is the one you’ve been eyeing, this deal is a no-brainer. Undoubtedly, it is the best deal ever for the Samsung Galaxy Nexus. Tempting, but I’m stuck with T-Mobile for another year. Some day there will be a good deal like this when my contract is up. Hope the the sparse group that qualifies for this enjoys their sweet new phones…

    For some it might be worth it. For me, wrangling the cash for the cancellation fee kind of cancels out the savings.

    Me too. I’m going to have a $70 cancellation fee but it’s worth it considering I’m saving $200 off the price.

  Buy the unlocked GSM version and run it on T-Mo. Yes, it will run you $500-600 more, but you will save more than that over two years, as T-Mo not only charges less than VZ, but also charges a lower monthly rate to those who bring their own phone and don’t need a subsidy.
  
  I bought one from an on-line store in England when they came out couple months ago, and it has worked fine on T-Mo.

    You are spot on. I decided a couple months ago that I am going to go with unlocked phones for the duration of my existence as well as with no contract plans. First, I have to save enough casheroo for an unlocked phone. Second, I have to wait for my contract to be up. The future is looking up! Hard to hang in there with my Android itch unable to be scratched. But it will be worth it.

    That’s how the 2-yr contract works. The phone is not free or $200. The carrier gets it’s money back from the monthly payments. T-Mobile tried in the past several times, you buy the phone outright or “in 3 easy payments” and you got a lower monthly bill, but not many people took them on it. Most people see “OMG, $600 for a phone!” and don’t factor the 2yr cost of the plan.

      Better yet, put that unlocked GSM galaxy nexus on straight talk $45 “unlimited” everything (ive gone to 2gb on data could probably go higher)
      
      Its a little work around to get this done, will cost you $50 for a straight talk nokia e71 or 6790 (only 2 phones that have a sim card that works in other phones)
      
      Using this workaround your phone will run on AT&T hspa+ network, im doing this with a international galaxy s ii works great

        But then you have to give ATT $45/month. I don’t want to give them anything, and I’d rather have T-Mobile’s service.

The problem is then I am stuck with Verizon’s overpriced plans (geez and they still lost money last year). I am sticking with T-Mobile…I think good things will happen with them and I really like my wifi voice and text phone (which gives me cellphone coverage even where there are no cell phone towers for any carrier). When Verizon offers $50 unlimited everything pre-paid plans then maybe I will consider a switch.

This is a great deal, I hope they keep it for awhile, I really wanted to switch and get a GN without putting so much out of pocket for two devices. Maybe they will bring a family data plan while it still stays that way which will pay off even better for me.

  I left Sprint to come over to this phone. For me it was a no brainer. While the data was unlimited, it was trash. I was getting 100kbps downloads/uploads.
  
  While I am currently experiencing some problems with Verizon’s LTE network here in Tallahassee, FL, its still a far more better experience then what I was having with Sprint.

Shoot! I just contacted you guys this tip before seeing this article, even though I did post it on my blog 2 hours before you did :P

I ordered my Nexus Galaxy from Amazon 2 weeks ago when the price was still $230. I contacted them today and they refunded me back $130.

Great phone, great price! I wish I had the patience to wait a bit, but alas, I didn’t.

Now if only EA/PopCap would update their games for ICS. Grrrr…. There needs to be a story on that!

If this was July I would definitely be more interested but I dont want to take an early termination as well as a higher rate being on a different carrier than my wife (or a new iphone for her as she would never go for an android). Still I would have to tear myself away from my grandfathered unlimited plan to take advantage. Im just waiting for Att to do away with the grandfathered plans (im sure they eventually will) and then I got nothing holding me to Att anymore. Maybe I could talk Verizon into giving me unlimited if they wanted our business instead of Att, unlikely though.
