Android 4 upgrades coming in May for Rezound, RAZR

Droid Life has gotten their hands on a screenshot of a Verizon internal system that providers more details about the Android 4.o update for a handful of devices. The HTC Rezound, Motorola Droid RAZR and Droid RAZR Maxx have nearly finished carrier testing of the Ice Cream Sandwich upgrade, and are nearing ready for the OTA update we’re all patiently waiting for. Owners of the HTC Rezound will start to see the OTA update hit their devices on May 9th, and Motorola’s RAZR and RAZR Maxx will get the update starting May 21st.

The leak also has some information regarding the Xoom 3G/4G LTE upgrade, though the picture isn’t nearly as clear for the first Android tablet. Carrier testing ended just over a week ago, but since the upgrade will come from Google rather than Verizon, the release date is simply listed as TBD. We don’t know whether the upgrade for the Xoom passed carrier testing, or whether Verizon sent the update back to Google for more work. Hopefully it’s the former, and the Xoom will see it’s share of Android 4.0 very soon.

So if you own the Rezound, RAZR, RAZR Maxx, or Motorola Xoom from Verizon, the wait for the next great Android operating system will soon be over. Stay tuned!

      Especially T-Mo.

Uh, AT&T was the first carrier to upgrade a phone to ICS with the HTC Vivid back in March…

  • Alan Reboli

I am hoping that HTC will finally release the source for the kernels. Get some big time haxxors going.

  • Ryan

They need to update the Galaxy Nexus. Shouldn’t have to wait on an update for a Nexus device.

    • logan_jinx

Nexus owners need to take this to Verizon big time

Send this the Verizon support on Twitter:

“Where is our update @VZWSupport? #Nexus owners are tired of waiting!”

      • hmmmm

        You mad bro? Hahaha!

  • thaghost

Shame on Google and verizon for their treatment of the Xoom.

Where’s the update for the Droid 4? Its hardware is very close to the RAZR, so there shouldn’t be much to change from the RAZR to the D4.

Where’s the bionic love?????? Come on moto the bionic came out first and it’s not even in the same list???? This is upsetting indeed.

    • Jeremy Shankman

I am right there with you. The bionic was advertised as being upgraded to ICS. Why after the razr’s? Its not like there are any reasons it should not just be pused out the same time as them.

i am tired of complaining about the time it takes to update phones…

  • LuckyHermit

Now I’ll just have to wait for people to make awesome custom roms based on this for my maxx! Can’t wait!

  • LittleGreenDude

It’s still disappointing how few devices have ICS. But, better late than never they say.

I recall seeing leaked screen shots from Bestbuy, too, which ended up being fakes. It would be great, if this were real, but, we have been burned by a lot of false rumors, so, I am not getting my hopes up too high.

I hope it is for real.

    • Lewis

I’d think this has more credibility since it appears to have come from Verizon itself.

  • hmmmm

I just think it’s funny that all the Nexus owners are getting mad.

  • Laurel laurel25

Hopefully the Incredible 2 update will be coming along soon, too!

phandroid is reporting an ICS leak for the Droid Razr/Razr Maxx, which, has file sizes, that match the picture. This looking to be real. If this is real, I hope the testing goes well, and, they start getting ICS out the door.

Knew this was bogus. Here we are on 5/9 and no update for Rez.
