Sprint EVO 4G LTE to go on sale June 2nd for $199.99

htc-evo-4g-lte

Sprint has announced via it’s Sprint Community page that the highly-anticipated EVO 4G LTE smartphone will go on sale this Saturday, June 2nd for $199.99. After a customs investigation caused the delay of the May 18th launch of the Sprint One X variant, shipments have picked up enough to have most retail outlets offering the devices this weekend.

The HTC EVO 4G LTE has the following specs:

  • 4.7″ 720p HD display
  • Dual core Qualcomm Snapdragon S4
  • 8 megapixel rear camera with an f2.0 lens BSI sensor, dedicated imaging chip and HTC’s new Image Sense technology
  • 1.3 megapixel front-facing camera
  • 16 GB internal storage, 1GB RAM
  • NFC
  • LTE
  • 2,000 mAh battery
  • HD Voice w/ voice-over LTE

The long wait is over, Sprint fans, as you’ll be able to get your grummy hands on the EVO 4G LTE in just two short days. Now, the waiting game for Sprint’s LTE network can fully begin, which is slated for launch later this quarter, with full rollout expected to be completed by the end of 2013.

Best device on Sprint. I would highly recommend it.

Best device on sprint but that’s the problem it’s on sprints network!!

      • triangle

Yes, patiently waiting for LTE on Sprint. But it’s coming.

  • ndarvishev

The specs look sweet. But somehow from the back side it reminds me of famous Nokia 6300. I wish I lived in US so I could enjoy this much cool phones.
On the other hand, I think I’d actually go for HTC One X. That thing looks alienish!

    • triangle

While I think the One X has a better design, don’t knock the new Evo unless you’ve actually held it. The One X is plastic while most of the Evo is aluminum. The Evo definitely feels like it’s a more solid phone with better materials overall.

  • uknowme

This is awesome news! Somehow Sprint botched something in a good way for me. They gave me a full upgrade and I picked up the Evo 3D last year. Time for another upgrade. Girlfriend isn’t happy though.

    • Mustin

Same EXACT story for me. I’ve enjoyed this 3D but am anxious to get a new phone. Going by there today!

  • duffguy123

my girlfriend is due for an upgrade and I told her hands down this is the phone she better get…i will drool over it while she uses it…then again, any android phone beats a blackberry, no??

My upgrade is at the end of this year and there will be a sweet nexus device out by then, hopefully.

    • Mix

My upgrade is due in June and I NEED to get rid of my Blackberry too! Anything is an upgrade at this point.

I know RIM is a Canadian Company and all and when I first got my phone that was really cool but now a bunch of old men have run the company into the ground thinking that innovation was optional and not mandatory.

      RIP RIM!

  • Bob Smith

Had it for a week now. Was able to get 14 hours of heavy use yesterday without a charge (including over 1 hour of streaming live TV).

    2 complaints (really 3):

    1. For some reason HTC decided to swap the answer/decline button positions and I am constantly hanging up on calls instead of answering them…seems very strange they would do that
    2. The back bugs me with the glossy top…should have left it like the bottom half
    3. No LTE…although I suspect it will be turned on in wave one tomorrow

    • Steve Barry

So you’re saying you swipe left to answer a call now? That’s the most rediculous thing I’ve read. That’s actually worse than ICS swapping the ‘OK’ and ‘Cancel’ buttons (at least I think ‘OK’ is now on the right)…what are these people thinking?

      • Bob Smith

Yes…I believe they swapped it to mimic ICS (definitely an HTC issue according to the lead UI designer at Sprint). Green/Answer is now on the right when it used to be on the left.

  • CTown

Am I the only one who thinks that phone is dirty (on the corner above the camera)? Come on, you have to look your best for a photo shoot!

google loathes verizon? Really? I mean verizon was the one who got people to know about android with their droid branding. Google like any company is about making money and verizon helped make android more common among people and put more money into google’s pockets.

    • squiddy20

      What a laughable comment.
“Google loves Sprint and Htc and clearly loathes Verizon” Reallllly now? Google “loathes” Verizon? If that were anywhere near the case, then why do you have an ANDROID phone powered by GOOGLE on VERIZON (your “pimp slapping” Galaxy Nexus)? Why does Verizon have soooo many different Android (powered by Google) handsets? Why did Verizon get the first tablet with 3.0 Honeycomb AND the first 4.0 ICS phone in the US? The sad fact is, you’re only bitching and complaining like this because A) you don’t know how to root your Galaxy Nexus, possibly THE easiest phone to unlock/root, and/or B) you’re just bitter because you don’t have the 4.0.4 update while us GN owners on Sprint (and the rest of the world) do. Either grow up or shut up.
“Verizon [is] clearly careless about it’s customers” No, Verizon does care, to point. Verizon wants to keep you as a customer because you’re stupid enough to feel the *need* to buy a new phone every year, and they easily make money off of dopes like you. But they aren’t going to bend over backwards just to appease little singular you. Verizon has over 100 MILLION wireless customers and you seriously expect them to treat you like royalty? You, who’s been on contract with them not even a year? You, who for the 2 years before you switched to Verizon were saying all kinds of negative crap about the company, like how they “suck rotten eggs”? You’re utterly delusional. Go get an education and learn how the “real world” works.

Squiddy20 why don’t you say I do to dick n be done with it!!

        • squiddy20

Ummm… because we don’t like each other and gay marriage is illegal in about 40 of the 50 states?
Not to mention the fact that we don’t live together, have nearly the same interests/hobbies, nor does he even know who I am. Besides, what’s your problem? I remember not even 8 months ago you were bashing him just as much as I was before he became a Verizon fanboy.

          • snowbdr89

Oh dick is the total moron I was just suggesting the I do since you follow his ass like your his shadow!! : )

          • squiddy20

It’s called “trolling” moron. Look it up.

First device with Android 2.0: Verizon’s Motoriola Droid (which also did more than the entire line of Evo-branded devices combined to put Android squarely on the map and make Android practically a household name)
First device with Android 3.0: Verizon’s Motorola Xoom
First device with Android 4.0: Verizon’s Galaxy Nexus
How, exactly, is it “clear” that “Google hates Verizon”? Is that your perception because you hate Verizon? You do know that you can update your phone to 4.0.4 without even rooting, yes? You could update it yourself in less time than it takes you to complain and rant.

  • BigCiX

The One X might look nicer but I’d pick an aluminum casing over plastic any day. Not to mention the SD slot and bigger battery.

  • snowbdr89

Why look it up when I see some dumb kid follow another dummy around like he’s his pet to try and argue with him? Maybe it’s time for a girlfriend or maybe dress dick up as a lil girl n ask him out since you seem to be do fond of his fat ass!!
