Android 4.0.4 update for HTC One S now available in Europe

htc-one-s

The Android 4.0.4 update for the HTC One S is now available for HTC’s European customers. Multiple reports have confirmed that the OTA update is currently being pushed out to unlocked devices in several countries across Europe. The update for the HTC One S come only a week after HTC released the same Android 4.0.4 update for the Tegra 3 powered HTC One X.

HTC has not release an official changelog for the HTC One S system update, but users are reporting overall system improvements with a lighter HTC Sense 4.1, faster camera and minor UI tweaks. In a bit of an unusual move of its unlocked devices, the update from HTC also includes a new EA Gamebox which looks to be a bloatware app which points users to the latest EA games available on the Google Play Store.

To check to see if the Android 4.0.4 update is available for you HTC One S, go to  Settings > About Phone > HTC Software Updates > Check. Now all we need is for T-Mobile and EU service providers to deliver the Android 4.0.4 update for their versions of the HTC One S so HTC can shift its focus to Android 4.1 and hopefully deliver a Jelly Bean flavored update before the end of the year.

I have a Rooted Htc One s and its being asking me to do an update for a week and a half now, The file size 58.31MB. But because its rooted it doesn’t let it install. Could this be it?

    • ACI

It won’t install if you have custom recovery. You will need to flash stock recovery back and possibly re-lock bootloader.

      Hi LilSmurf2009,

I cannot update my htc one s neither. I see I have SuperSU app on my phone. So I think my phone is also rooted.

Would like to ask if you have already solved your problem and had your phone updated?

My phone has been mentioning about the update for a month now.

Faster updates are never bad – lets just get moving on US versions.

As One X owner in Canada, it’d be nice to move forward off of 4.03..

I am new to Android and it really surprises me that manufacturers take that much time to update their phones. Is it really that difficult? I am under the impression that they don’t start porting the software right away.
