HTC First now available from AT&T for $99.99

The HTC First, the world’s first phone to ship with Facebook Home pre-installed, is now on sale at AT&T. Available in white, black, red and pale blue, the HTC First can be purchased for $99.99 with a new two-year contract or $449.99 for those who aren’t willing to sign their life away to AT&T.

While the HTC First’s 4.3-inch 720p display, dual-core 1.4 GHz Qualcomm 400 processor, 1GB of RAM, 16GB of storage and 5 megapixel camera are decidedly mid-range by today’s standards, the Facebook Home infused phone can actually be quite appealing to Facebook fans and Android purists.

On the surface, Facebook acts as the main user interface for the HTC First. Facebook Home takes on the duties as the default launcher, pulling in status updates from your friends and integrating Facebook messages with SMS. But if Facebook isn’t your whole life, Facebook Home can easily be turned off to reveal a surprisingly stock build of Android.

We’ll be sure to share our thoughts on the HTC First once we get our hands on a review unit. Will any of you be purchasing the HTC First?

    4.3 inch display + 4G LTE + Stock Android 4.1.2 = pretty compelling device.

Wish it was cheaper than $449 though. Kind of hard to justify when Nexus 4 starts at $299.

Someone just make chat heads apart of cyanogen mod & it would be killer.

From my understanding, Chat Heads on other phones will work when you install the Facebook Home app and the updated Facebook Messenger app, but you don’t need to have Facebook Home set as your default launcher.

      Can anyone confirm this?

Works with _only_ the messenger app installed. I don’t have Home installed and chat heads work. Confirmed earlier when someone sent me a message.

Anyone else find it hilarious that a phone that was announced less than a month ago is already on sale, but other phones that have been announced for almost 3 or 4 months still arent on sale.?
