Xperia Z Ultra leak shows off Snapdragon 800, massive 6.21 inch display

The Sony Xperia Z is a pretty large device, but it is by no means a phablet. It has the industry standard screen size, which is currently 5 inches. But with the phablet craze taking over every company, it was only a matter of time before every single one started making some sort of massive device. Samsung is already established in this sector with their Galaxy Note and Galaxy Mega. HTC has their rumored T6 on the way. LG has the Optimus G Pro. And now Sony has the Xperia Z Ultra.

This device (codenamed Togari) was rumored to have a 6.4-inch display, and according to these newly leaked screenshots, that is very much true. The screenshots are of Quick System Info PRO showing, you guessed it, system info. The resolution is stated to be 1080 x 1824, with an estimated screen size of 6.21 inches. Factoring in on-screen keys, that’s 1080 x 1920 and 6.4 inches, as previously rumored.

It also mentions an MSM8974, better known as the Qualcomm Snapdragon 800. It’s a beast of a processor that benches incredibly well. There’s also Android 4.2.2, and in a few of the screenshots, you can see a small tab in the corner that looks awfully similar to Samsung’s multi-window tab. Other specs include 2GB of RAM and 16GB of memory.

This giant device may be announced soon, but knowing Sony, it won’t come to the US in a timely fashion. It took Sony months to bring the Xperia Z to the US, so we won’t hold our breath for the Z Ultra. However, Europe is getting some nice devices from the company. Sony has been doing pretty well in recent times, and we’re excited to get our hands on this massive device. What do you think of it? Would you carry a 6.4-inch device in your pocket?

The way Sony names their phones is getting pretty ridiculous, too confusing.

Device really looks like it’s all screen.

6.4″? At what point will the phablet craze end? At 5.5″, the Note II and LG Optimus G Pro are very large devices as is, another inch of diagonal space added will make it even harder to hold one handed.

I look forward to “lusting” after this phone when it’s introduced then not hearing anything about it for half a year.

If I had the cash i would buy this phone in a heartbeat. I’m a large person with large pockets (literally, not figuratively) and see this as an opportunity to stop fat fingering my texts and e-mails.

Interesting, don’t think this will catch on though.

    My first huge phone.

I think this will be my new phone. Phablets are the way of the future! Games movies and reading are much better on them, and tablets are too big and bulky to really be your daily driver. Hopefully 6.4 inches isn’t too big.. I would be happy with 5.5
