Huawei’s Ascend P6 hasn’t been much of a secret thanks to a series of leaks the device has starred in. Nonetheless, Huawei decided to officially announce the device at their London event this morning. It’s easy to see that Huawei was aiming to create a high-end device with the P6, and thanks to its distinguishing thinness, they fared pretty well.
The Ascend P6 plays host to a 4.7-inch LCD display with “MagicTouch,” Huawei’s fancy way of saying you can use it while wearing gloves. It also features a 1.5GHz quad-core processor, 2,000 mAh battery and Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean with Huawei’s new Emotion UI overlaid. The Emotion UI is one of the heavier skins out there, but on the bright side, it doesn’t look too bad and adds some nice benefits like enhanced security and facial recognition for the camera.
Speaking of the camera, the Ascend P6 has a 5MP shooter up front, so you can take all sorts of high-res duck face shots (but seriously, don’t). In the rear you’ll find an 8MP BSI camera with an f/2.0 aperture and 4cm macro mode. Huawei also threw in their IMAGEsmart software to allow users access to editing tools like contrast, auto scene recognition and what Huawei is calling “instant facial beauty support.” Not a bad set of cameras at all.
But none of these are the primary highlight of the phone. That designation goes to the phone’s minuscule thickness. At just 6.18mm thin, the Huawei Ascend P6 is one of the thinnest phones on the planet. Combined with its very high-end specs, the Asend P6 is shaping up to be an incredible phone. Now that the Ascend P6 has made its official debut, are any of you guys interested in it?
