Sony announces which devices will see Android 4.3

Sony Jelly Bean

Even though Android 4.3 Jelly Bean was just announced yesterday, Sony has already named the devices that will receive an update to Android 4.3. Sony also mentioned that both the Xperia ZR and Xperia Tablet Z will receive updates to Android 4.2 Jelly Bean next month. The devices that will receive Android 4.3 include:

  • Xperia Z
  • Xperia ZL
  • Xperia ZR
  • Xperia Tablet Z
  • Xperia SP
  • Xperia Z Ultra

As you can see, this list includes all of Sony’s most recent devices. While it could be a bit bigger, it’s still fairly extensive for Sony’s line-up. Sony said that it’s looking at the option of upgrading some of the devices directly from Android 4.1 Jelly Bean to Android 4.3, since it’s such an incremental update. The company hasn’t confirmed whether or not this is the exact plan or not and is instead telling us to stay tuned for more information.

Do you own one of these phones? Are you excited to get Android 4.3?

Sony is really on these updates! Go Sony! (Wish they offered the Xperia Z on Verizon)

  • OTA rollout

I own the Xperia ZL. I just recently received the 4.2.2 update it really adds so much more usability and performance upgrades. With the time it takes for OEM’s to push OTA’s and the delay the carrier has for an update timeline, I kind of wish Sony would have made the jump straight Key Lime Pie, considering 4.2.2 to 4.3 is not a very big jump.

Anyway, I am glad Sony came out to announce this! Sony might be better than Samsung in the software upgrade aspect :)

I pulled the trigger on the Z on T mobile because of their Jump program, instead of waiting around like I usually do. Bad decision? Change it in 6 months. And its water (toilet, pool, lake) proof. I keep finding out more and more great things about this phone. Sony is stepping it up big time in the android world.
