More HTC Zara specs rumored, just oversaturating the market?

We’ve heard a few rumors about the HTC Zara, and now another has surfaced, giving us more specs for the mysterious device. The newest info is that the device will feature a 4.5-inch display with a qHD resolution, a dual core 1.4GHz processor (maybe a Snapdragon 400?), 1GB of RAM, an Ultrapixel camera, a 1.6MP front facing camera, and 8GB of storage with a microSD slot to augment it. It also says that the device will ship with Android 4.2.2 with Sense 5. Previous rumors claimed it will be made out of plastic instead of the metal construction of the One and One mini.

It seems that HTC is going back on their philosophy of making less devices. I understand the purpose of the One mini, but why create this Zara? It looks to be slightly larger, with a worse display resolution, and similar specs. It won’t even be a phone destined for some low end market: it’s rumored to come to Sprint here in the US. Why is this device at all necessary when the One mini exists?

Is HTC going back to their habit of making too many worthless phones? Is this just the HTC One SV to last year’s One S? I don’t like where this is going, but I want to know what you think of HTC releasing another phone eerily similar to one that has already been announced.
