New Sony Honami photos show off 20MP camera, G-lens

Sony Honami Lens

The Sony Honami has had a bit of time in the spotlight, mostly due to the rumored camera sensor packed in there. Today, a leak shows off the G-lens on the back of the device. It certainly looks like Sony is putting a lot of emphasis on this camera sensor, considering they branded the lens. There are X’s where the megapixel count should be, hiding it on this prototype chassis.

Luckily, we can see the camera settings screen that confirms the image size: 20MP. That is a massive 5248 x 3936 pixels per photo, which is extremely impressive for a phone. Hard as HTC tries, the megapixel wars aren’t going anywhere (though with the Lumia 1020′s camera, who can complain?).

Sony Honami Side

On this (horribly edited) side shot of the device, it looks like there is an area for a magnetic connector. It isn’t easy to see because of all the Photoshop, but we may see it on the final product.

Other rumored specs for the Honami are a 5″ 1080p display, a Snapdragon 800 processor with an Adreno 330 GPU, Jelly Bean 4.2.2 and a similar water proofing to the Xperia Z. Hopefully it’ll have a big enough battery to power that camera. It could shape up to be a great device (if you can forgive the glass back), so tell us what you think of it!
