What is this tiny purple thing? Is it the Xperia Z1 mini?

Sony-Honami-mini-640x426

It’s been rumored that Sony is working on a mini version of the Honami, or as we now know it, the Xperia Z1. And just because there was no mention of a mini at IFA doesn’t mean it still couldn’t happen.

According to Digi-wo, this is the Xperia Z1 mini in purple. Purportedly, the device will feature a 4.3-inch 720p display, Snapdragon 800, 2GB RAM, 8GB internal storage and the same 20.7MP CMOS G Lens camera as the Xperia Z1. The source claims the phone will be released at CES 2014.

A picture may be worth a thousand words, but those thousand words could all be a bunch of lies. It’s not hard to fake an image. As always, take rumors with a healthy dose of skepticism and a cautious touch of hopefulness.

never thought of buying Sony phone before, somehow I always treat them as B-sort company for mobile, on the par with various Chinese companies, focusing mainly on gimmicks.
but if this Z1mini is true, and the specs are true with good battery and SD slot, I will seriously move it to my top candidates for my new phone.

A mini with nearly identical specs to it’s larger counterpart?! Now that’s how all minis should be!

Only thing it needs is larger internal storage. 8 GB just doesn’t cut it.

just use a cheap microSD then, it’s not such a deal breaker, it’s better than spending $50 more, something normally happens when you double the storage

    It’s a Walkman.

I really like the idea of this Z1 Mini if the specs are true.
However this photo up there is definitely shopped. The mini is just proportionally smaller in each direction. Especially the thickness of it seems very unlikely. The phone should be smaller, but it cannot be that much thinner and keeping the specs!
Furthermore, it wouldn’t be appealing for me if it was so thin. I would be afraid of breaking it in my pockets.

yup..too thin for a phone that have a 20.7mp camera..but i hope, the news is true..look what Sony do to xperia z and zr..almost identical but cheaper..
