Android has some fantastic independent app developers out there that are putting out some amazing apps. One of the really cool features of the Android ecosystem is the opportunity to become a part of developers’ beta communities most often through Google+. This gives YOU the chance to try out our fantastic app developers’ latest and greatest features and gives YOU an opportunity to make a difference and shape the development of an app. Unlike the feeling we sometimes get with apps from big companies, these independent developers love to listen to the Android community and output a product that makes you happy. In my experience, it’s super fun to be a part of the development process and watch amazing apps grow and become even more awesome.
I’m sure there are more then just two out there, but today we have two beta apps for you to keep on your radar from highly respected Android app developers. If you care, try to join their beta communities, enjoy the apps, and keep making our Android community even more awesome.
Flyne. The Offline Reader.
Flyne is a new offline reader from Joaquim Verges, the developer of the popular Twitter app, Falcon Pro. I’ve followed the development of Falcon Pro for a long time and Joaquim is a super fun developer to follow who listens to his app users. This app looks beautiful and I’m excited about where it’s headed. From the app’s description:
Introducing Flyne, a fast, fresh and simple way to stay up to date with your favourite News sources. Flyne uses Twitter Lists to provide you with news on real time from the most famous blogs, to your most trusted friends. Flyne fetches FULL Articles for offline viewing, and displays it in a clean, mobile friendly manner. Flyne presents articles like a newspaper, page per page, allowing you to flick through titles and full screen pictures for the best reading experience.
Right now, Joaquim has Flyne in a private beta. You have visit Flyne’s website here to sign up to become a part of the beta process.
Switchr is a new multitasking app from another awesome developer, Mohammad Adib. If you’re not familiar with Mohammad, he’s the developer of the popular apps like Roundr and Sidebar Pro. Switchr Beta allows you to swipe from the side of the screen to access a beautiful list of your recently used apps.
With Switchr, you have the opportunity to be a part of the beta now. Just hop on over to the Switchr Google+ page, join the community, become a tester, and download the app. This app will be released in a non-beta version on October 20, so you still have a few more days to get in on the beta action.
So what do you guys think of these new apps? Do you love to be a part of the beta communities? What are some other brand new apps that I haven’t talked about that need to be on our radar? Let us know in the comments below!
