Top 10 Android app updates this week: HBO GO, Todoist, Dropbox

Welcome back to our weekly Top 10 Android App Updates column, where we take a look at the most upgraded apps for the week. I’ve found that one of the best ways to discover useful apps is to look at what people are actually updating, not focus on which apps have the most installs. As in the past, we’re going to filter out minor updates for the super popular apps that have over 10 million installs, but I’m going to make an exception for apps that had significant updates. I hope you enjoy this weekly feature and discover some apps that you might find useful.

ESPN SportsCenter – Version 4.0

Why update? ESPN updated their Sportsapp to provide a more personalized experience.

Why update? You can now control your receiver using your Android phone.

What’s new in this version:

  • Now stream up to 100 live in-home channels and 30 out of home channels right on your phone, including your favorite premium channels from HBO, Cinemax, Showtime, TMC, Starz and Encore.

  • Now available with Chromecast (Android 2.3 above).

 

Google Wallet – Version 2.0-R141

Why update? Google introduced an easier way to add cards to your Wallet.

What’s new in this version:

  • Add a credit/debit card just by taking a picture. Both the number and expiration date will be captured automatically.
  • Use the Google Wallet Card to spend your Wallet Balance at millions of MasterCard® locations or withdraw cash at ATMs.
  • Minor bug fixes and performance improvements.

 

Opera browser – Version 18

Why update? Those of you using a tablet to browse can enjoy the improved UI.

What’s new in this version:

  • Based on chromium 31.
  • New UI for tablet devices.
  • Improvements in search engine list.
  • New remote debugging feature (requires new permissions).
  • Fixed issue with fullscreen video playback.
  • “What to Do” instructions during a smoke and carbon monoxide event.

  • Non-logged in users can now view reservations.

 

Todoist – Version 2.1.2

Why update? The latest version adds support for users running Android 4.4 KitKat.

What’s new in this version:

  • Android KitKat support.
  • Google Now support.
  • DashClock widget support.
