Looks like the Nexus 5 is no longer the only member of Club KitKat. Google has announced that it’s now pushing Android 4.4 to both the 2012 and 2013 editions of the Nexus 7 as well as the Nexus 10. Owners of cellular-enabled Nexus phones will have to wait a bit longer to break off a piece of KitKat, but Google does promise that the Nexus 4 and Nexus 7 models with mobile data capabilities will be updated “soon.”
One of the most cited benefits of owning a Nexus-branded device is the fact that they’re often the first products to receive new Android updates. That’s a trend that’s continuing with Android 4.4, and while there are likely some Nexus 4 owners that are disappointed about missing out on the first wave of updates, I’m betting that it won’t be long before the N4 gets its own KitKat snack. Once it does, you can bet that we’ll let you know.
If you’re rocking a 2012 or 2013 Nexus 7 or a Nexus 10, be sure to keep an eye out for Android 4.4 in the coming days, and don’t forget to give us a shout in the comment below once KitKat finally makes its way onto your tablet!
