Mysterious ‘Xperia Z1s’ shows up on Sony’s website, disappears just as quickly

Sony Xperia Z1s leak

In the mood to start your week with a mystery? I hope you’ve got your deerstalker on and your Sherlock Holmes impression ready, because a mystery is precisely what I’ve got for you this morning. An unannounced device referred to as the “Xperia Z1s” recently popped up on Sony’s official website, complete with a render and tagline similar to the flagship Xperia Z1. XperiaBlog managed to snag a screengrab of the phone before it disappeared, but unfortunately for those of us interested in learning more about the Z1s, the link associated with the device led to a dead end.

The true identity of the Xperia Z1s remains shrouded in a fog for now, but it’s been suggested that the device could be a shrunken version of the aforementioned Xperia Z1. The two devices share the same image and tagline in the screenshot above, and it’s also worth noting that Sony and Japanese carrier NTT DoCoMo introduced a miniaturized version of the Z1 known as the “Xperia Z1 f” earlier this year. This Xperia Z1s could end up being a variant of the Xperia Z1 f that’s headed for the shelves of some international markets. Of course, this is all speculation for now, but hopefully this brief appearance on Sony’s website means that the Xperia Z1s’s official debut is getting close. Stay tuned.
