Nexus Wireless Charger now available from Google Play Store for $49.99

Nexus Wireless Charger

Looking to accessorize that shiny new Nexus 5? Google is happy to oblige. The company just added its official Nexus Wireless Charger to the virtual shelves of the Google Play Store. The Nexus Wireless Charger is a small, black cube that measures 60 x 60 x 12.5 mm in size and can provide juice to the Nexus 4, Nexus 5, Nexus 7 and other Qi-compatible devices. The convenience of not having to physically plug a phone or tablet in for some juice will set buyers back $49.99, and new orders are expected to leave Google’s warehouse in one to two business days.

In addition to the Nexus Wireless Charger, Google has added stock of some Nexus 5 cases to the Play Store. The red and yellow bumper cases are in stock as of this writing, as are the black and white QuickCover cases made by LG. The protective suits are priced at $34.99 and $49.99, respectively, and orders of any of the cases are slated to ship out in one to two business days. And in case you’re curious, yes, the Nexus 5 is still backordered. You can always buy some accessories in preparation for when the Play Store is restocked, though!

I guess they had to make one that the Nexus 7 could also sit on. I already have the one from the Nexus 4.

is it just me, or does it look like that chick is about to smack that charger with a 20 inch tablet?

      It definitely looks disproportionate.

Sigh. $50 for the charger? And $35 for the cases? What makes these cases better than the numerous other cases that can be had for $15 (and less)?

So they can make up for selling the device for so cheap. I am assuming.

Kind of like the console wars thing.. sell consoles at a loss, but get fat stacks for selling accessories/games/useless_content

Hmm not worried about it right now. I’m OK a cable.

  • Unsure about the Nexus

The charger isn’t very attractive however…Do those bumpers protect the screen? Ive never had a case or screen protector but it sounds like phones are more delicate now. I keep thinking about the 5 to save money, but keep reading more and more negative reviews about this device. From the pretty lousy camera, bad speakers, confusing Hangout/SMS, and even worse battery life. Seems like more and more tradeoffs.

If you want to save money go with the Moto G

Kinda sucks as I bought the Nexus 4 charger and my Nexus 5 doesn’t like it that much.

Does anyone’s Nexus 5 get up to 43c Degrees hot while playing games like Plants vs Zombies 2? I’m talking to Google right now as it’s damn hot, the camera lens almost feels like it will burn you :/

My Nexus 5 also get real hot when playing PvZ2!

I’m not much of a gamer, so only have a handful installed, and all the others are fine, but that game gets it working overtime!

    • Andrew

My sisters boyfriends LG 2 also gets hot playing PvZ 2, I guess the game is poorly made (a poor quality EA title? Who would’ve thought!)

How close do you have to be by it? What kind of strange wavelengths are going to my brain with this?

To be honest I prefer having a screen protector than a case..I’ve looked at the otter box and while it looks great it does add considerable bulk and they are pricey…in the other hand screen protectors are lightweight and inexpensive if you know which one to get. You can pick a GEARMAXX screen protector for cheap…They sell on ebay and are high quality, lightweight and durable!

$50 for the charger??? I got this one http://goo.gl/jHZy5n for $17 and it works perfect with N5 and N7.

Yours is cheap but is only 1000mA, official is 6000mA so will charge much faster

I’ve been using a RAVPower Qi wireless charger. It works great with my Nexus 5.
