The HTC One and Samsung Galaxy S 4 Google Play edition devices have done a lot together. They launched together in June, they were both updated to Android 4.3 in August and now it looks like they’re getting bumped up to Android 4.4 around the same time as well. Google just announced on the official +Android Google+ page that not only is the ¬†HTC One Google Play edition being updated to Android 4.4 today, but that the Samsung Galaxy S 4 Google Play edition is receiving its own update to KitKat today as well.

It was a little under a month ago that Google officially unleashed Android 4.4 upon the world along with the Nexus 5. That means that it’s only taken a few weeks for KitKat to hit the Google Play edition devices. One of the allures of the Google Play edition devices is the promise of timely Android updates, and so it’s good to see Google, HTC and Samsung continuing to quickly bring both the One and Galaxy S 4 up to the latest version of Android.

If you’re rocking either a GPe-flavored One or Galaxy S 4, be sure to keep an eye out for some incoming KitKat in the coming days, and don’t forget to give us a shout in the comments below once the update finally arrives!
