Sony sheds some light on Android 4.3, 4.4 update plans

Following KitKat update announcements from HTC and Motorola last week, Sony today shed some light on its own Android 4.3 and Android 4.4 upgrade plans. When it comes to Android 4.3 Jelly Bean, Sony expects to start pushing updates out as soon as next month to the Xperia Z, Xperia ZL, Xperia ZR, Xperia Tablet Z, Xperia SP, Xperia Z Ultra, Xperia Z1, Xperia T, Xperia TX and Xperia V. The exact timing of these updates will vary by carrier and market.

Moving on to Google’s latest dessert, Sony says that it will be upgrading the Xperia Z, Xperia ZL, Xperia Tablet Z, Xperia Z Ultra and Xperia Z1 to Android 4.4. No details related to timing were given for those updates, but hey, at least anyone rocking one of Sony’s recent flagship Xperia phones now knows that they’ll eventually be able to break into some KitKat and enjoy all of the goodness that’s packed inside. It’s also worth noting that Sony says this is “the first raft” of devices that’ll receive Android 4.4 updates. So if your Xperia isn’t included in today’s list, just keep it locked to Android and Me and we’ll update you with any others that get added.
