HTC EVO 4G LTE Android 4.3 update confirmed for February release

While many of us are enjoying the recent Android 4.4 updates that have been pushed out by HTC, Samsung, Motorola and other OEMs, there are those who are still waiting to get a taste of Android 4.3. Sprint’s HTC EVO 4G LTE owners will be happy to know that the Android 4.3 update is right around the corner. HTC’s Jason Mackenzie confirmed on Twitter that carrier testing of the update will start in mid-January with the consumer release scheduled for mid-February.

The Android 4.3 update for the Sprint HTC EVO 4G LTE will include all the usual features from Google plus a major facelift for the UI as the phone will be getting HTC Sense 5. It’s still unclear if the HTC EVO 4G LTE will eventually be upgraded to KitKat (Android 4.4). The phone is essentially a re-branded version of the HTC One X, but even that phone hasn’t officially been blessed as an Android 4.4 update candidate.

Since HTC is being transparent about the end-to-end update process for its devices here in the US, let’s hope they can sort things out and let consumers know if they should be expecting the latest version of Android on HTC’s 2012 flagship phones.

I doubt that the phone will get 4.4. It was released in May 2012, though it would be awesome that updates were to be pushed on a 2 yr phone (if 4.4 makes it out, I would guess it would be around may or so, doubt two major updates would be released within 3 months of each other.)

Really these update was late to arrive, even when Kitkat is now available. HTC should improve by providing faster update.

Makes me think I won’t be purchasing a HTC device again.

Not for sprint or verizon at least.

At least HTC is updating it! I’ve got the evo 4g lte, and I’m happy that they’re doing it. A lot of phones have gotten much worse treatment.

And I think its a pretty nice phone, it’s the nicest that I’ve used, and I’ve had a few. If I ever get tired of HTC software support, then I’ll load cyanogen. Big deal.

All the more reason to go Nexus folks. I got tired of the OEMs and carriers being in charge of my updates. I got rid of my EVO LTE and bought an N5 through the Play Store. I’ve been very happy with it. Its already gotten two OTA updates (one being to 4.4.1) and I’ve only had the phone for two months. No more manufacturer skinned Android for me. As “vanilla” Android gets better and better, these skinned versions are becomming less relevant anyway.

Dont hold your breath, they said they would bring sense 5 to EVO 4 g LTE by Dec 2013 and have yet to deliver

I agree, it’s taking them too long to get the 4.3 let along 4.4. I’m just happy about this one, but it’s still too early to tell Htc bad about telling lies lies.

Lmao what’s to get excited about they’re so late on an update, let alone 4.3 while 4.4 is already out. These companies are just milking the hell out people’s hard money. I think it is time top stop buying shit that’s going to be obsolete in a year and late on stupid updates. I used to have the phone craze but not anymore just fuck em all.
