Own one of Verizon and Motorola’s latest round of Droid-branded devices? If so, then you’ll be pleased to hear that a new software surprise will soon be headed your way. According to the folks at Android Central, Motorola has sent invitations to members of its Motorola Feedback Network for a soak test for the trio of phones, meaning that a software update is on the way. Unfortunately for the more curious among us, Motorola hasn’t said exactly what kinds of goodies that this impending update contains.
We’ll just have to wait until the updates begin rolling out to find out for sure what’s inside, but the first possibility that jumps to mind is Android 4.4. Motorola has been pretty quick with the KitKat updates for its Moto X variants, and even though Verizon isn’t typically thought of as being the speediest carrier around when it comes to approving and rolling out updates, its Moto X was actually the first of the group to get Android 4.4. Taking that into consideration, it’s certainly possible that the Droid Mini, Ultra and Maxx could soon be getting their own pieces of KitKat goodness. Here’s to hoping that the test period is brief and that the public rollout gets underway soon.
