Verizon’s version of the HTC One was originally slated to receive an update to Android 4.3 at the tail end of October, shortly after its siblings on other U.S. carriers. As I’m sure owners of the device are aware, though, the update ran into a last-minute issue and was delayed indefinitely while HTC put together a new version. We haven’t heard much about the update since, but that’s changing this weekend.
Mohammed Versi, HTC’s Executive Director of Product Management, recently announced that the Android 4.3 update for the Verizon HTC One has received its technical approval and is expected to begin rolling out over the air “early next week.” That’s pretty exciting news for users of the Big Red-flavored One that’ve been stuck on Android 4.2 while other versions of the One receive updates to Android 4.3 and Android 4.4.
Speaking of Android 4.4, HTC has previously said that this delay won’t affect the Verizon HTC One’s update to Android 4.4, which is expected to arrive before the end of January alongside the 4.4 updates for the other U.S. carrier-branded Ones. That’s still kind of far off, but here’s hoping that none of those updates fall victim to a last-minute problem and extended delay like this 4.3 update for the Verizon One.
