AT&T HTC One X Android 4.2.2, Sense 5 update now available for download

htc-one-x-630

Following Monday’s announcement that AT&T had completed technical acceptance testing for the HTC One X’s Android 4.2.2 software build, we have received word that the update is now being pushed to handset owners across the country. Android 4.2.2 may not be the latest and greatest version of Android, but HTC’s update for the One X is accompanied by Sense 5 and quite a few new features.

Once the Android 4.2.2 with HTC Sense 5 update is installed on the One X, users will be treated to new user interface, gallery, video highlights, BlinkFeed, quick settings in the notification shade, auto focus lock, battery percentage display, daydream and much more. Due to hardware limitations, the One X update does not include HTC Zoe, a feature that captures images and video at the same time.

AT&T is pushing out the Android 4.2.2 update to the One X in waves, but you can always try pinging the update servers manually by going to Settings > AT&T software update > Check for updates > OK.  Once you get acquainted with the update and HTC Sense 5, let us know what new features you enjoy the most.

I have not been able to download the update. I’m going to wait until the 30th or 31st. Might have more luck then.

  • superfly

Im now using my phone with tmobile. Will I still b eligible for updates?

  • superfly

Im now using my HOX (AT&T) with tmobile. Will I still get the update?

    • Trey

It should work. As long as it is not rooted. I did the same thing. I actually got my HOX from a friend. He unlocked it because i am on T-Mobile. A bit of advice is if it does not want to check for updates is: hard reset the device. (Make backups of things you want to keep) it has worked miraculously for me, but I still do not see any updates.

    • Trey

Also, when I got my HOX, it was still running ICS. I updated it to 4.1.2 through AT&T Software Updates. So, again. It should update as long as you are not rooted. :) any more questions, feel free to quote me.

        Hello,

I am a beginner and I rooted my phone few months back using step by step guidelines & tools available on XDA. I need to install my office email id on my phone however I cannot install Lotus traveller on rooted phone. It is against company’s policy.

Please suggest if it is possible to unroot my phone & upgrade to androide 4.2.2. I stay outside US and I am on vodafone network

I appreciate your time and support. Below are the details of my phone.

-The model of your phone -> AT&T HTC One x
-Your bootloader details (the first five lines).

        Tampered
        Unlocked
        Evita Pvt Ship S-Off RL
        CID-11111111
        Radi0-0.24p. 32.09.06

        -Your current ROM/kernel. -> RUU 3.18
        -Your current recovery. -> TWRP

        - Super SU v1.93 installed
        - TWRP v2.6.0.0 installed

        • Trey

I do not know the answer to this, Ashish. I imagine you can probably unroot and run the RUU. You can go ahead and check instructions on how to unroot probably. If you need any more assistance, shoot me a reply :)

I updated my HTC one x but when it restarted my phone looks the same nothing changed

    • jc

Same here. I downloaded the 16mb package. Whatever it did its not the upgrade the author lead us to believe. My phone is still in 4.1.1.

      • Andrew

The first update (approx. 16MB) is a prep update for the larger update (approx. 537MB) you’re going to need to either wait a day to check for the larger update, or turn off auto time/date and set the date at least a day ahead.

    • Hurb

That’s the pre update to get the phone ready for 4.2.2

  • Tom

Please can someone help, my update hasn’t come and anytime I try to manually start it, it says “server unavailable” am I the only one with this problem? Please help. I’m going crazy here

    • alex

Look buddy if you have your phone line at & t is very strange and makes me think that you have rooteado but if it’s on a different line to at & t and t-mobile or other foreing company must have a apn not allowing update thus must remove and check again and it should work properly

    • Trey

      Try hard resetting?

  • Steph

I‘m using my at&t htc one x with another carrier. I was able to update it like this to the previous update. Right now i’m checking manually and constantly for the update nd it starts checkimg but after a few seconds it just stops checking and gives me no message saying there are no updates or teling me to check back later. Only once I received the messagethat there was no update available and that there would be an automatical checking in 48 hours. Is this normal?

    • alex

Look notification sends at & t and each phone has an identification number for example 12345 and a number of serial number serial so this depends on the day date and time that your phone was manufactured if it was one of the first manufactured will of the first to receive updated

      • Steph

Well, it’s weird because I received the previous update very quickly. I guess I’ll just have to wait then. Thanks. I just find it weird that I don’t get any message at all after checking for the update!

      • Trey

Is there any way to check this number?

  • Disuse

My AT&T htc one x will not update at all it keeps telling Me no updates at this time And I can’t manually update from htc manager because they haven’t put the update up for download I waited a year for this “Really”-.-

    • Trey

A wise person once said “Ask and it will be given you”. This is not the case though; patience is a virtue. I will just be waiting for mine to find the update through the AT&T Software Updates.

-Sent from My HTC One X

  • Lucy

So I just updated it and when it rebooted it looked exactly the same!!! :(

    • Steph

The update is devided into 2 parts. The first one is small (16 MB aprox.) and you won’t see any changes yet. Try moving your date one day forward and checking again for an update. You should receive the second part after that. This one should be about 537 MB.

  • anth

I got the first update changed the date the other update showed up but said to switch to WiFi. Which I don’t have. Now when I check for update it does nothing. I have tried it numerous times now I have to move it to Feb 10th for it not to say that I am currently up to date check back in 200 hours lol

    • yusuf

settings-about-software updates. at the top right corner there is a settings icon. touch it. there is an option to use WiFi only. uncheck that and it should work.

  • Tarun

Is it ok to update the phone directly by using bigger update (573mb) or 16mb pre update is really required. What if I tried to update the phone by RUU (manually, from HTC support page) without 16mb pre update. ??

  • yusuf

for me it just says that no updates are available. I’ve been waiting 3 days. is something wrong??

  • Trey

Is it possible that it will take longer to reach some states? For instance, I’m in Texas. Is there anyone from Texas who has received the 4.2.2 update?

    • Steph

I think the order they chose is a different one since I don’t even live in the US and I was able to get the previous update very quickly. But not this time :( Still waiting

      • Trey

OK. Nice information to know. Then the case might be thus: the size of the update to sense 5 is probably quite a bit bigger than 4+ therefore it might be taking a while to go OTA to every One X on AT&T.

        • Steph

Maybe :( But I’m confused now. I’ve heard some people say that the OTA is not available if youre not on at&t. Is that really so? I’m on another carrier. But I got the previous OTA with no problem. But now I get nothing.

          • Trey

it depends, Steph. Is your phone originally AT&T but unlocked onto another carrier?
For instance (sorry if I say this a lot), I have an AT&T One X and I have mine unlocked on T-Mobile.

  • Steph

Trey, my phone is originally at&t and I pruchased a code to unlock it and be able to use it with any carrier. Im currently on a carrier called Movistar. My uodate doesnt seem to be working. It seems as if it didnt even finish checking for it! It just disappears!

    • Trey

Steph. What you must do is go into mobile networks, and access point names, and delete all the APN’s and then turn on WiFi and run the AT&T Software Update again. See if that works :)

      • Steph

Trey, thanks a lot for your advice! You see. everytime I checked for the update, I was on wifi. Still so, the little curved lines started to appear above of the 4G symbol. I even disabled the data and the little lines still appeared. So that was very weird. I deleted my APN and that stopped happening. I also finally started receiving a message after checking for the update. For now I only get that I have no update available and that there would be a check in 48 hours. But I think that my APN was definitely interfering! Now it’s hopefully going to work soon. Thanks for the help! I’ll let you know if everything turns out alright :)

        • Trey

You are very welcome, Steph. I have been following the same technique, no luck getting the update yet though. Hope everything works out.
(accidentally typed this out of context)

  • bird

Stock HTC one x on AT&T. I got the full upgrade OTA today! Downloaded and installed no problem. Looks like a brand new phone in my hands. United Sates-South Carolina

  • Sarah

Whenever I hit “check for updates” the phone will check for about 30 seconds and then go back to the screen with the “check for updates” button. Why am I not getting the option to update my software?

    • Trey

Is your HOX unlocked on another carrier? If it is then you should delete the APN and connect to WiFi. Then try again. Quote me if you need more assistance.

  • Trey

You are very welcome, Steph. I have been following the same technique, no luck getting the update yet though. Hope everything works out.

  • donger

    Good to see the support.

  • Ganiu

pls can anyone help me on how yo go about the new update, i have tried all possible ways .

  • Ganiu

each time i try to update it, the response i get is that i should check back next 48hours.

    • Steph

I just read yesterday that an android update rollout can take up to 2 weeks! So if you’re not getting it, it is just because you are not in the batch yet. You can read it here:
      http://www.androidauthority.com/how-android-updates-roll-out-force-clear-gcf-318744/

I still haven’t been able to download it either. I hope we all get it soon, Trey and Ganiu. :) Let you know when I do. Hope our strick solved everything, Trey!

      • Trey

Very reputable information, Steph! Thank you for that post. I’ve been checking every day. Hopefully my One X will get the update soon! And the remove all APN trick has been working marvelously for me. I hope that this trick will be very useful in the end :)

  • alex

So far I’ve delved into all pages showing Google and have not found any support, I had read that they were supposed to 2 weeks but the report of HTC says the deployment of update for the hox at & t was already full here I leave the Link HTC’s official website which shows what I just commenting

    http://www.htc.com/us/go/htc-software-updates/

This almost in the middle of the page

    • Steph

Thats is weird, I’m not sure if the infobrefers to the update being complete as in done and being pushed out or if it means that 100% already recieved it. Kind of confusing.

      • Trey

Steph, I found out that when I updated my HOX to 4.1.2 in the past, I had a NET10 AT&T Card inside. It seems that the RUU is the only way to get the update if your HOX is unlocked on another network. I posted link below.

    • Trey

Nowhere does it say that it is 100% complete. It just says that the update is completely finished. That is what HTC was doing. The updates for the HTC One X might not be out for another week or month for all we know. AT&T is a little bit slow (Look at the date that Sense 5 was released for the international version compared to AT&T’s model) to push out updates. Then again, I cannot really vouch for AT&T seeing as I came over to T-Mobile from Sprint. :) Just keep your head up high.

  • Britt

HTC One X……I received the first 18mb update….soon after it began to download the larger 537mb download then it just disappeared. Now I can’t get it to check for updates again no matter how much I toggle the date setting ahead….did I do something wrong? Can I go about it another way? Or am I doomed to wait? Curse AT&T

    • Trey

Did you try hard resetting? (I recommend hard resetting before updating anyways) Just go to Backup and reset > Reset phone.

  • Ganiu

when is the update coming to africa, i think the update is done by region.

  • bijay

hy, i read all the comments as i too have unlocked at&t and waiting to get the update. em i had purchased this at&t cell from US and had unlocked it to make it worke in all carrier .i am from Nepal . and the qsn is will i be able to get the update?? i dont care how much time it going to take,i just want the update :)

    • Trey

      Hello Bijay,
Greetings from the United States. The HTC One X should be able to get the update, unlocked or not. :)

  • bijay

    hy trey,
greeting, nice to meet you here.and thnx for the information.
so it mean, i can get at&t update even though i am not is the US. and can update my at&t one x device from any part of the world? specially from Nepal.
    thank you again.

    • Trey

      Bijay,

I have specified in the past that i am not anyone who works for HTC or AT&T. I am a citizen just waiting for the update to come. Take my advice with a grain of salt, for some things might be false. I believe the one can still get the HTC One X Update, unlocked or not. I was able to get the previous update while i was unlocked on T-Mobile (as long as I deleted the APN). Hope my advice helps with whatever questions you may have.

  • David Guirus

I have an HTC One x Att unlocked and I am using tmobile. I have tried evrything to get this update but I just can’t get it. Can someone help me?

    • Trey

I have HOX unlocked on T-Mobile as well, David. No luck for me right now. I hope it comes soon, and also. If you are having trouble checking for updates, check the posts I made above for solutions :)

  • alex

Hi just wondering because someone received his upgrade
    :)

    • Trey

I believe this person may have had a non-unlocked HOX, or may have just been playing us all. Not to say “give up if you have an unlocked HOX” but rather “keep your head high”. We will get the update in due time :)

  • Trey

Everyone. I am here to announce that today the RUU came out for the One X. http://www.htc.com/us/support/news.aspx?p_id=464&p_name=htc-one-x-att I also heard from a source who wishes not to be named that the unlocked HOX will not receive the OTA. If your HOX is unlocked then I believe the RUU is the fastest way. Thank you all. And as always, if you have any questions: reply to me.

    • yusuf

Trey, can I update my HTC one x from here even though its not unlocked?

  • bijay

    hy trey ,
i had read your post from mobile and had tried that link too and i saw the downloadable file with instructions , and i open ma laptop to download the file but now , did htc removed that file?

  • Trey

I left my HOX overnight and still it did not complete updating. It is a huge update apparently

  • Trey

I accidentally cancelled the update. I suppose I will leave it plugged into laptop and give it all day to update. I hope this works. As always, if you need any assistance then reply to me :)

  • Trey

    Update: mine finished the RUU!

    • bijay

o yap it is there now..
so how is the new version?
      cant wait to update mine.
still need to download the huge file.
internet is too slow here..around 130kb/second.
ok . have a gud time there.

      • Trey

I like the update a lot. Enjoy your update, Bijay :)

        • bijay

          hello trey,
it kept telling me usb device not recognize.
i followed the last instruction still my laptop wont recognize it and installation wizard gives me error message.
but before installation it had recognized my htc.

  • Bijay Sharma

Oh it kept telling me “usb device not recognize” i followed the last instruction too..still it kept saying that…i am uninstalling my previous htc sync manager and installing the recommended one..hope it works this time..i am at the middle of night .lol.

    • Trey

Yeah. The latest HTC Sync Manager is pretty much one of the keys to making it work. And I recommend doing a factory reset before you update.

  • yusuf

Umm, can somebody please tell me what the RUU is?

    • Trey

Like definition of RUU? It is the executable that runs the software update installer. It isn’t OTA.

  • Trey

I updated my phone with the RUU last night. Absolutely loving this update :)

    • bijay

i am still not able to update ..so sad..it still says usb device not recognize..i had perform hard reset too.

  • yusuf

Can I update my LOCKED phone via RUU?

  • JFang

I received the initial small update. I then tried the clock trick but it didn’t work. Am I supposed to wait until ATT sends me another notification that my phone is ready for the big update?

    • Trey

I don’t know the answer to this. But it depends on how quick you want the update. I updated my HOX through the RUU. It is a very needed update. I am still finding fixes for everything since the past update. Overall this update is a plus for me. If you want to wait, you could. Or you could download the RUU (i posted a link in a post above)

  • bijay

error 170/171 usb device not recognize while chicking bootloader..(windows 8.1 )

    • Trey

Did you install the HTC Sync Manager?

      • bijay

        hy trey,
finally i was able to flash RUU via windows 7 .
it even said “congratulation ,your device is ready to use”
but after i clicked finish button my htc restart itself.
it kept restarting ..first it show htc with white background then black background with mobile logo and circular arrow symbol..then after that it kept restarting.
        help please

        • vincent

Bijay, did you have any luck? I am also trying to update my unlocked HOX via the RUU on a windows 8.1 machine and i get the same error as you do. I am trying now from a windows 7 machine. Did your update work fine?

          • bijay

            hy vincent..
yap i got mine fixed today. now it is all right with new version..
yap windows 7 did a magic..but i had to download RUU again. and again flashed it.
developer may re-write the code for some changes.
if you had encounter with the problem like mine then i recommend you to download fresh RUU and delete the previous RUU and flash again.
            good luck :)

          • vincent

I am trying to flash it using the RUU , it recognized on windows 7, its showing as sending….. on the updater, its been like that for well over 45mins now. Just wondering , how long did it take you to do the update?

          • bijay

it took around 15 min, not more than that ..i think it depend on computer processor… before when i flashed RUU via desktop computer it had took much longer and when i flashed the same RUU using laptop , it just took around 15 min.
so how well did your update went?

        • Trey

Sorry about the delayed reply, bijay. you should probably try running the RUU again or putting it into recovery and resetting manually. (Hope you backed up everything). what my phone did the night that I was downloading the RUU is it just stuck on the “Updating” screen all night. When I woke up, I unplugged my phone, reset it. and then restored everything to factory (after backing up everything) and then ran the RUU again. On a side note, I was running Windows XP to do my update. Hope this helps. Reply to me if there are any other problems.

          • bijay

hy , i had already flashed RUU yesterday morning.
            And i love the update.
What i did was , i download the RUU file again , delete the previously downloaded RUU and again start the fresh RUU setup via windows 7 and within just 15 min my phone was updated to v.2.2 and sense 5.
any way thnks for the information. :)

  • yusuf

I’ve decided to wait for the update to come to my phone. But it still hasn’t come yet. Its been two weeks already. Is there anybodyrhat HASN’T revived the update yet? or am I the only one

    • bijay

      hey yusuf,
      is your phone unlocked? rooted?
if yes you wont get update. You need to flash ROM(RUU) provided by Htc via computer.

      • yusuf

Bijay, my phone is not unlocked or rooted. I don’t know why I didn’t get it yet. Do you know if the update has Been released to all HOX phones yet? The Said it should be 2 weeks, and its been 2 weeks alredy.

      • yusuf

bijay, can i use a windows 8 laptop?

  • Sally

Anyone know how to uninstall 4.2.2 once it’s been downloaded? I’m not crazy about many of the changes. I’d rather go back to 4.1 or whatever I had prior to this.

  • rjn

To all that are having trouble grabbing the OTA update: I tried all the date tricks and ran into two main errors. The first was the “HTCDM has unexpectedly” stopper error and the second was the “Server is unavailable” error. I was not able to try any combination of checking in, changing the date, etc to make the update work.

However, what worked for me was manually installing the RUU from the HTC website. It took two tries (the first it hung on the ‘Sending’ screen, so I disconnected the USB and retried running the RUU .exe file). This DOES wipe your phone, but it worked seamlessly for me. Link is here: http://www.htc.com/us/support/htc-one-x-att/news/

    • Trey

It stuck on the sending screen for me as well, but my phone was not wiped. I did a factory reset though (after backing up everything) and then ran the RUU again. And now I am loving this update :)

  • comicboy

my htc one x is not an at&t, it is an htc carrier. is this update going to work and if yes how do i download or update it?

  • yusuf

I’m updating my phone right now,but it always says device is not recognized. I followed the instructions on the page it but never works. Ive tried it over 5 times. Is there something else I have to do? Or am I doomed?

    • bijay

sorry yusuf for the late response..
i recommend you to use windows 7 rather than 8.
coz i had faced the same problem..error 170 usb not recognize on windows 8. and even from fastboot it doesnt recognized. if your laptop recognize the device “fastboot usb” will appear instead of “fastboot” only.
if nothing worked even from windows 7.then try downloading the htc drivers and install them. gud luck.:)

      • yusuf

bijay, i tried updating from a windows 7 laptop and i also tried downloading htc drivers but neither of them seem to work for me. do you know if the update has been rolled out fully? i think i might wait for it to come OTA to me.

  • bijay

emm in this case, like i had done before ,try chatting with htc agents..go to http://www.htc.com/us and at the bottom of the page you will see contact with sub menu like mail, call, chat…click the chat link and follow the system .you will be asked to enter your imei so be sure you have it. i think they will help you with your problem at any get them solved at any cost.

  • jason

  • Maggie

I’m not able to download the files!

I’m on 4.1.1 att HTC one X, and after many headaches and a factory reset, I’ll go through settings > att software update, and about > software updates > check for update. I check, and both times say there are no updates available.

Has anyone had this issue? I know there are updates!

    • Maggie

I also get an error that says “Server Unavailable – Check for Software Update under Settings when service is available.”

I have full service on both mobile and wifi.

I’ve owned an HOX with the 4.2.2 update before, but it was stolen. Bought another one off eBay and it won’t update. Just say software is up to date. I’ve even tried hard reset. When it does say there is an update, I click ok and it shows it downloading it for a split second then disappears. Can anyone please help me??

Im now using my HOX (AT&T) with tmobile. Will I still get the update?

    • TreyGuest 1 year ago

It should work. As long as it is not rooted. I did the same thing. I actually got my HOX from a friend. He unlocked it because i am on T-Mobile. A bit of advice is if it does not want to check for updates is: hard reset the device. (Make backups of things you want to keep) it has worked miraculously for me, but I still do not see any updates.

    • TreyGuest 1 year ago

        -Your current ROM/kernel. -> RUU 3.18
        -Your current recovery. -> TWRP

        - Super SU v1.93 installed
        - TWRP v2.6.0.0 installed

        • TreyGuest 1 year ago

I do not know the answer to this, Ashish. I imagine you can probably unroot and run the RUU. You can go ahead and check instructions on how to unroot probably. If you need any more assistance, shoot me a reply :)

I updated my HTC one x but when it restarted my phone looks the same nothing changed

    • jcGuest 1 year ago

Same here. I downloaded the 16mb package. Whatever it did its not the upgrade the author lead us to believe. My phone is still in 4.1.1.

      • AndrewGuest 1 year ago

The first update (approx. 16MB) is a prep update for the larger update (approx. 537MB) you’re going to need to either wait a day to check for the larger update, or turn off auto time/date and set the date at least a day ahead.

    • HurbGuest 1 year ago

That’s the pre update to get the phone ready for 4.2.2

Please can someone help, my update hasn’t come and anytime I try to manually start it, it says “server unavailable” am I the only one with this problem? Please help. I’m going crazy here

    • alexGuest 1 year ago

Look buddy if you have your phone line at & t is very strange and makes me think that you have rooteado but if it’s on a different line to at & t and t-mobile or other foreing company must have a apn not allowing update thus must remove and check again and it should work properly

    • TreyGuest 1 year ago

      Try hard resetting?

  6. StephGuest 1 year ago

    • alexGuest 1 year ago

Look notification sends at & t and each phone has an identification number for example 12345 and a number of serial number serial so this depends on the day date and time that your phone was manufactured if it was one of the first manufactured will of the first to receive updated

  7. DisuseGuest 1 year ago

My AT&T htc one x will not update at all it keeps telling Me no updates at this time And I can’t manually update from htc manager because they haven’t put the update up for download I waited a year for this “Really”-.-

    • TreyGuest 1 year ago

A wise person once said “Ask and it will be given you”. This is not the case though; patience is a virtue. I will just be waiting for mine to find the update through the AT&T Software Updates.

-Sent from My HTC One X

  8. LucyGuest 1 year ago

So I just updated it and when it rebooted it looked exactly the same!!! :(

    • StephGuest 1 year ago

The update is devided into 2 parts. The first one is small (16 MB aprox.) and you won’t see any changes yet. Try moving your date one day forward and checking again for an update. You should receive the second part after that. This one should be about 537 MB.

  9. anthGuest 1 year ago

I got the first update changed the date the other update showed up but said to switch to WiFi. Which I don’t have. Now when I check for update it does nothing. I have tried it numerous times now I have to move it to Feb 10th for it not to say that I am currently up to date check back in 200 hours lol

  10. TarunGuest 1 year ago

Is it ok to update the phone directly by using bigger update (573mb) or 16mb pre update is really required. What if I tried to update the phone by RUU (manually, from HTC support page) without 16mb pre update. ??

  11. yusufGuest 1 year ago

for me it just says that no updates are available. I’ve been waiting 3 days. is something wrong??

  12. TreyGuest 1 year ago

Is it possible that it will take longer to reach some states? For instance, I’m in Texas. Is there anyone from Texas who has received the 4.2.2 update?

    • StephGuest 1 year ago

I think the order they chose is a different one since I don’t even live in the US and I was able to get the previous update very quickly. But not this time :( Still waiting

      • TreyGuest 1 year ago

OK. Nice information to know. Then the case might be thus: the size of the update to sense 5 is probably quite a bit bigger than 4+ therefore it might be taking a while to go OTA to every One X on AT&T.

        • StephGuest 1 year ago

Maybe :( But I’m confused now. I’ve heard some people say that the OTA is not available if youre not on at&t. Is that really so? I’m on another carrier. But I got the previous OTA with no problem. But now I get nothing.

          • TreyGuest 1 year ago

it depends, Steph. Is your phone originally AT&T but unlocked onto another carrier?
For instance (sorry if I say this a lot), I have an AT&T One X and I have mine unlocked on T-Mobile.

  13. StephGuest 1 year ago

Trey, my phone is originally at&t and I pruchased a code to unlock it and be able to use it with any carrier. Im currently on a carrier called Movistar. My uodate doesnt seem to be working. It seems as if it didnt even finish checking for it! It just disappears!

    • TreyGuest 1 year ago

Steph. What you must do is go into mobile networks, and access point names, and delete all the APN’s and then turn on WiFi and run the AT&T Software Update again. See if that works :)

      • StephGuest 1 year ago

Trey, thanks a lot for your advice! You see. everytime I checked for the update, I was on wifi. Still so, the little curved lines started to appear above of the 4G symbol. I even disabled the data and the little lines still appeared. So that was very weird. I deleted my APN and that stopped happening. I also finally started receiving a message after checking for the update. For now I only get that I have no update available and that there would be a check in 48 hours. But I think that my APN was definitely interfering! Now it’s hopefully going to work soon. Thanks for the help! I’ll let you know if everything turns out alright :)

Is your HOX unlocked on another carrier? If it is then you should delete the APN and connect to WiFi. Then try again. Quote me if you need more assistance.

      • TreyGuest 1 year ago

Very reputable information, Steph! Thank you for that post. I’ve been checking every day. Hopefully my One X will get the update soon! And the remove all APN trick has been working marvelously for me. I hope that this trick will be very useful in the end :)

  20. alexGuest 1 year ago

    • StephGuest 1 year ago

Thats is weird, I’m not sure if the infobrefers to the update being complete as in done and being pushed out or if it means that 100% already recieved it. Kind of confusing.

      • TreyGuest 1 year ago

Steph, I found out that when I updated my HOX to 4.1.2 in the past, I had a NET10 AT&T Card inside. It seems that the RUU is the only way to get the update if your HOX is unlocked on another network. I posted link below.

    • TreyGuest 1 year ago

Nowhere does it say that it is 100% complete. It just says that the update is completely finished. That is what HTC was doing. The updates for the HTC One X might not be out for another week or month for all we know. AT&T is a little bit slow (Look at the date that Sense 5 was released for the international version compared to AT&T’s model) to push out updates. Then again, I cannot really vouch for AT&T seeing as I came over to T-Mobile from Sprint. :) Just keep your head up high.

HTC One X……I received the first 18mb update….soon after it began to download the larger 537mb download then it just disappeared. Now I can’t get it to check for updates again no matter how much I toggle the date setting ahead….did I do something wrong? Can I go about it another way? Or am I doomed to wait? Curse AT&T

    • TreyGuest 1 year ago

Did you try hard resetting? (I recommend hard resetting before updating anyways) Just go to Backup and reset > Reset phone.

      Hello Bijay,
Greetings from the United States. The HTC One X should be able to get the update, unlocked or not. :)

  24. bijayGuest 1 year ago

    hy trey,
greeting, nice to meet you here.and thnx for the information.
so it mean, i can get at&t update even though i am not is the US. and can update my at&t one x device from any part of the world? specially from Nepal.
    thank you again.

    • TreyGuest 1 year ago

  26. alexGuest 1 year ago

Hi just wondering because someone received his upgrade
    :)

    • TreyGuest 1 year ago

I believe this person may have had a non-unlocked HOX, or may have just been playing us all. Not to say “give up if you have an unlocked HOX” but rather “keep your head high”. We will get the update in due time :)

  27. TreyGuest 1 year ago

  28. bijayGuest 1 year ago

    hy trey ,
i had read your post from mobile and had tried that link too and i saw the downloadable file with instructions , and i open ma laptop to download the file but now , did htc removed that file?

  29. TreyGuest 1 year ago

I left my HOX overnight and still it did not complete updating. It is a huge update apparently

  30. TreyGuest 1 year ago

I accidentally cancelled the update. I suppose I will leave it plugged into laptop and give it all day to update. I hope this works. As always, if you need any assistance then reply to me :)

it kept telling me usb device not recognize.
i followed the last instruction still my laptop wont recognize it and installation wizard gives me error message.
but before installation it had recognized my htc.

  32. Bijay SharmaGuest 1 year ago

Oh it kept telling me “usb device not recognize” i followed the last instruction too..still it kept saying that…i am uninstalling my previous htc sync manager and installing the recommended one..hope it works this time..i am at the middle of night .lol.

    • TreyGuest 1 year ago

Yeah. The latest HTC Sync Manager is pretty much one of the keys to making it work. And I recommend doing a factory reset before you update.

  33. yusufGuest 1 year ago

Umm, can somebody please tell me what the RUU is?

  34. TreyGuest 1 year ago

I updated my phone with the RUU last night. Absolutely loving this update :)

  36. JFangGuest 1 year ago

I received the initial small update. I then tried the clock trick but it didn’t work. Am I supposed to wait until ATT sends me another notification that my phone is ready for the big update?

    • TreyGuest 1 year ago

I don’t know the answer to this. But it depends on how quick you want the update. I updated my HOX through the RUU. It is a very needed update. I am still finding fixes for everything since the past update. Overall this update is a plus for me. If you want to wait, you could. Or you could download the RUU (i posted a link in a post above)

it kept restarting ..first it show htc with white background then black background with mobile logo and circular arrow symbol..then after that it kept restarting.
        help please

        • vincentGuest 1 year ago

Bijay, did you have any luck? I am also trying to update my unlocked HOX via the RUU on a windows 8.1 machine and i get the same error as you do. I am trying now from a windows 7 machine. Did your update work fine?

          • bijayGuest 1 year ago

            hy vincent..
yap i got mine fixed today. now it is all right with new version..
yap windows 7 did a magic..but i had to download RUU again. and again flashed it.
developer may re-write the code for some changes.
if you had encounter with the problem like mine then i recommend you to download fresh RUU and delete the previous RUU and flash again.
            good luck :)

          • vincentGuest 1 year ago

I am trying to flash it using the RUU , it recognized on windows 7, its showing as sending….. on the updater, its been like that for well over 45mins now. Just wondering , how long did it take you to do the update?

          • bijayGuest 1 year ago

it took around 15 min, not more than that ..i think it depend on computer processor… before when i flashed RUU via desktop computer it had took much longer and when i flashed the same RUU using laptop , it just took around 15 min.
so how well did your update went?

        • TreyGuest 1 year ago

Sorry about the delayed reply, bijay. you should probably try running the RUU again or putting it into recovery and resetting manually. (Hope you backed up everything). what my phone did the night that I was downloading the RUU is it just stuck on the “Updating” screen all night. When I woke up, I unplugged my phone, reset it. and then restored everything to factory (after backing up everything) and then ran the RUU again. On a side note, I was running Windows XP to do my update. Hope this helps. Reply to me if there are any other problems.

          • bijayGuest 1 year ago

hy , i had already flashed RUU yesterday morning.
            And i love the update.
What i did was , i download the RUU file again , delete the previously downloaded RUU and again start the fresh RUU setup via windows 7 and within just 15 min my phone was updated to v.2.2 and sense 5.
any way thnks for the information. :)

    • bijayGuest 1 year ago

      hey yusuf,
      is your phone unlocked? rooted?
if yes you wont get update. You need to flash ROM(RUU) provided by Htc via computer.

      • yusufGuest 1 year ago

Bijay, my phone is not unlocked or rooted. I don’t know why I didn’t get it yet. Do you know if the update has Been released to all HOX phones yet? The Said it should be 2 weeks, and its been 2 weeks alredy.

Anyone know how to uninstall 4.2.2 once it’s been downloaded? I’m not crazy about many of the changes. I’d rather go back to 4.1 or whatever I had prior to this.

  40. rjnGuest 1 year ago

    • TreyGuest 1 year ago

It stuck on the sending screen for me as well, but my phone was not wiped. I did a factory reset though (after backing up everything) and then ran the RUU again. And now I am loving this update :)

  42. yusufGuest 1 year ago

I’m updating my phone right now,but it always says device is not recognized. I followed the instructions on the page it but never works. Ive tried it over 5 times. Is there something else I have to do? Or am I doomed?

    • bijayGuest 1 year ago

sorry yusuf for the late response..
i recommend you to use windows 7 rather than 8.
coz i had faced the same problem..error 170 usb not recognize on windows 8. and even from fastboot it doesnt recognized. if your laptop recognize the device “fastboot usb” will appear instead of “fastboot” only.
if nothing worked even from windows 7.then try downloading the htc drivers and install them. gud luck.:)

      • yusufGuest 1 year ago

bijay, i tried updating from a windows 7 laptop and i also tried downloading htc drivers but neither of them seem to work for me. do you know if the update has been rolled out fully? i think i might wait for it to come OTA to me.

  43. bijayGuest 1 year ago

emm in this case, like i had done before ,try chatting with htc agents..go to http://www.htc.com/us and at the bottom of the page you will see contact with sub menu like mail, call, chat…click the chat link and follow the system .you will be asked to enter your imei so be sure you have it. i think they will help you with your problem at any get them solved at any cost.

My HOX is on 4.1.1. I checked for Att updates and it finds one.
A 2.6kb file is downloaded then a 6.9mb file is downloaded.
Says system will be rebooted to install then message pops up saying update unsuccessful, please wait for the next update.
Any idea on what is happening?

The Global model does not have Sense 5 and 4.2.2. Sorry… AT&T (16 GB) is the only model that has the update.

I’m not able to download the files!

I’m on 4.1.1 att HTC one X, and after many headaches and a factory reset, I’ll go through settings > att software update, and about > software updates > check for update. I check, and both times say there are no updates available.

Has anyone had this issue? I know there are updates!
