AT&T HTC One X Android 4.2.2 update granted ‘technical approval’ – OTA release set for 1/29

The HTC One X’s wait for Android 4.2.2 (the last official update for the phone) will soon be over. @moversi (product manager at HTC) has shared that AT&T has completed technical approval of the update which has a scheduled OTA release date of January 29. The AT&T HTC One X’s Android 4.2.2 update will be accompanied with Sense 5 which will give the phone a new UI along with new features like BlinkFeed and Video Highlights – two features which made their debut on the HTC One. We are disappointed that the HTC One X will not be updated beyond Android 4.2.2, but the bump up to Sense 5 should keep most One X happy with their handsets until they are able to upgrade to a new phone.

What Android 4.2.2 or Sense 5 feature are you looking forward to with the AT&T HTC One X update this week?

Halle-friggin-lujah! OTA targeted for 1/29, add another 4-6 weeks “just in case” which would put 4.2.2 out about a year after it debuted. AT&T bites the big one.

It’s stories like these that frighten me away from OEM’s like Samsung, Sony and HTC. I do prefer Stock Android but some features of custom UI’s like Sense I do like.

Unlocked version seem to get updates faster. You could also go with a GPe version of them, which nave received updates fairly fast.

If my memory is correct the HTC One X and X+ was released in the SAME year as the Galaxy S3 with close specifications so how comes the S3 will get even 4.4 Kitkat while the One X going to 4.2 yet month end oh my shame on HTC we expect better from you

Part of the problem is that the One X uses a Tegra processor and the 4.4 update isn’t going to work on HTC with that.

This is what’s wrong with Android. All this time waiting for a 4.2.2 update….the current version of software is 4.4.2. It’s still two versions out of date.

UPDATED IT THIS MORNING FOR MY ONE X AND GUESS WHAT HAPPENED? WENT THRU THE MOTIONS OF UPDATING AND WHEN I CHECKED THE SOFTWARE, IT STILL SAYS 4.1.1 OK THEN

WTH…Updated 30 mins ago as well but software info still reflects 4,1,1

It’s probably like the One X+ update, where there were two OTA updates. The first is a roughly 16 MB prep update, then the second is a larger, roughly 500 MB update that is the one that updates the OS and Sense

      • jmchatton

This is definitely the case. I have a One X and I’m doing this now. Just turn off automatic day and time and set the day to tomorrow, then check again for updates.

NIce, seems to be processing the 530mb update!

          Kudos on the simple workaround!
