Audi including AT&T 4G LTE in 2015 A3, draws data from your Mobile Share plan

2015 Audi A3

The 2015 Audi A3 sedan is getting even fancier than before. Audi has teamed up with AT&T to offer 4G LTE in the new cars, along with a full suite of software to take advantage of it. But here’s the kicker: the car has to be added to your AT&T Mobile Share data plan. Imagine that tech support phone call!

The car will have an entertainment system with apps like Facebook, Twitter, Google Earth, and RSS feeds, along with internet radio and the ability to provide a WiFi hotspot for up to eight WiFi-enabled devices. And with the help of a mobile app, it will connect to your smartphone and help you go hands free.

It’s pretty amazing what Audi and AT&T is doing, though I find it hilarious that you have to have your car on your AT&T data plan. Hopefully the system is made to minimize distraction behind the wheel, as full data access could be pretty distracting. Would this be a selling point for a new vehicle, or is it just going too far? Leave a comment!
