Sony Xperia Z1s unveiled – launching January 13 exclusively on T-Mobile

During Sony’s press event at CES, the Xperia Z1s was finally unveiled. As expected, the spec sheet on the Sony Xperia Z1s is composed of a 5-inch 1080p display, quad-core 2.2GHz processor, 2GB RAM, 20.7 MP camera, 3,000mAh battery, NFC, up to 32GB of storage and a microSD card slot.  The Sony Xperia Z1s is also the first “water proof” flagship phone from Sony with an IP58 rating – allowing the device to be submerged in 4.9 feet of water for up to 30 minutes. That definitely covers a dunk in your coffee, rainpuddle or, heaven forbid, the toilet.

The Sony Xperia Z1s will be available exclusively on T-Mobile in the US market on January 13 online and January 22 in participating T-Mobile stores. Pricing is set at $528, and you can get a $100 Visa Gift Card when you purchase the Sony Xperia Z1s and a Play Station 4.

So which is it, a 5″ display or 4.3″ display?? This article says that it has both! Lol

    • Stanglifemike

      So they’re releasing a 4.3″ Z1s AND a 5″ Z1s? I thought Sony announced the Z1s has a 5″ display, and that they’re also releasing a Z1 mini with a 4.3″ display. Is that not correct?

The Z1 had been released in other parts of the world as Sony’s flagship device and is now finally being brought to the states as the Z1s on T-Mobile. This is indeed the 5″ screen smartphone. The other phone is called the Z1 Compact because it has a 4.3″ screen and is high end and thus the use of the word “Compact” in the name. I hope this makes sense.

        • Stanglifemike

Makes perfect sense! That’s what I thought as well! As you see there is no mention of “Compact” or “Mini” in this article though, that’s why they need to make corrections to it. Also, Ari (who I replied to) said they are releasing 2 versions of this phone, yet they never mentioned Compact or Mini either.

Tmobile says this phone will cost 603 to buy outright. At 528 that is really good price. I had the xperia with tmobile and my wife will has hers and it’s a great phone. Only reason I didn’t keep it was because it has a locked down bootloader and I missed the screen on my note 2. I will definitely take a look at this phone so my next phone. Can’t wait

Umm.. I though it was the smaller compact version of the Z1? If I’m wrong then ill take that..

  • jerrbomb

Okay.. I take it back.. I’m sorry.. The Z1s is for tmobile exclusively and then the Z1 Compact is the latter.. There was slight confusion… Lol

Yeah, it confused us at first as well. All rumors were circling around the Z1 Compact. We were not expecting the Z1S which is simply a T-Mobile version of the Z1.

I still don’t get the point of the s in the Z1s. It seem rather unnecessary.

      • jerrbomb

Ikr.. I was like really? You have to add the S to make it exclusive? Lol

I’ve been always so indecisive to start my own blog as I wasn’t sure that it’ll gain popularity.
