Another HTC M8 leak shows more of the same, but with some strange details

HTC M8 shiny leak

Photos of the upcoming HTC M8 flagship are all the rage right now, and most of them match up in the details. This latest one is no exception, featuring a dual-LED flash, two camera lenses, a shifted upper speaker on the front and a buttonless design. It looks like every other leak at first glance (except extra shiny and pretty), but if you look closely, there are a few conflicting details.

First of all, the flash is one piece in this leak, whereas it was two separate pieces in previous leaks. Another mysterious detail is the plastic trim between the pieces of metal, which was white in some leaks but is black in this one. And while the black looks pretty dang good, we’re not sure which will be used in the final production version.

This looks like a pretty legitimate leak, and if this device is released as the HTC M8, we wouldn’t mind. But as we discussed in the latest Android and Me Podcast, the M8 has been underwhelming so far and so HTC really needs to throw a curveball to impress us. What do you think of this latest leak? From these pictures it still looks like non software buttons, unless the HTC logo is in a wasted space area.???? Large bezels if it is have onscreen buttons as some of the leaks have shown.

It will have on screen buttons additional to the space purely taken up for logo… as if the logo on the back wasn’t big enough to let you know the brand of phone.

I like the new shiny look though, shame its let down by wasted space which could have been used as usable display area.

The one on the left was said to be the mini version. I guess we will see. Even the current mini One had different tapered edges then the bigger One.

Yes I agree they both could be the mini version, look at the size of his thumb compare to the phone width, it does not look like a 5″ screen size phone.?

To me, it looks bigger than the Moto X does in my hand. I think this may be the full version, though the possibility of it being the mini is real.

If real???????? Is this on a trade floor? (tiled floor, person with scarf on?), Does this mean the M8 will be announced at MWC?? & the rumor March announcement in America will be for an american version?

Roll on Next Monday for MWC.

    Interesting…

this article is misleading. The guy never said it was m8, he just confirmed its a real device. Compare it with the HTC One Mini – its most likely its successor and not the next HTC One…

So far, I haven’t found any reason at all to buy the m8. The same processor as 6 months ago. On screen buttons, I think that they suck. No removable battery No sd card. Basically the same reasons I dont use a nexus, even though I love my Nexus 7. I understand that the snapdragon 805 isn’t available yet, but why wait to buy a phone then. I was getting excited about the finger print scanner that launched different apps with each finger, is that scrapped? A aluminium frame and speaker in the front isn’t enough, I will wait to see what everyone offers first.

For the love of all things good, please give people the ability to put the soft buttons where they want! When HTC listened to Google and moved the buttons around, they lost so many customers and nearly lost me. Samsung kept the old system… Which HTC helped to make popular originally lol. I want back on the right, plus a menu and gone button. What is so hard about that in this supposedly open os?

Ps love the finish… Reminds me of my Asus ultra book.

  • Rony

I must buy this one if it possesses memory card slot & at least 8 ultra pixel camera.

To much wasted screen space if it has onscreen buttons and that stupid black bar with the HTC logo.
