Samsung Gear Fit to get portrait mode for ease of use

Samsung Gear Fit vertical update 1

The Samsung Gear Fit was more loved than the other Samsung smartwatches on the MWC show floor, with the Gear 2 and Gear 2 Neo being updates to the unpopular Galaxy Gear. The Gear Fit merges a sexy new style with a curved display and more of a focus on fitness than the other new Gears. People really liked it until they realized that you’d have to contort your hand to properly see the horizontal display.

We actually talked about this on the podcast, and this flaw was pointed out to me when I didn’t realize it. It’s a great point, and apparently Samsung realized it too, because the company has created an update that allows the contents of the display to be rotated vertically, making the screen much easier to read. We’ve yet to see exactly how well this vertical orientation works , but it’s definitely a big change.

Samsung Gear Fit vertical update 2

This feature was spotted on a Gear Fit in a Samsung store in South Korea. We don’t know when the update will start rolling out to all Fits, but it’s coming soon and it will hopefully create a better user experience. Does this change your mind about the Gear Fit? Leave a comment!
