User Agent Profile on Samsung servers shows possible Galaxy S5 Active for AT&T

When the Samsung Galaxy S5 was announced, the company touted the devices’ water and dust proof nature as a major feature. Indeed, having a waterproof device is an amazing feature in an everyday phone, no longer forcing you to buy a dumbed down model that is made for an active lifestyle. So now that the main model features waterproofing, what would be the point in releasing a Galaxy S5 Active?

While we can’t answer that question, it looks like the device is indeed coming. Previous leaks showed that the model number of the Galaxy S5 Active will be SM-G870, and it looks like Samsung’s servers are hosting a User Agent Profile for the SM-G870A. This would be the AT&T model, a carrier the Active was said to grace. And the file was updated three weeks ago, so this isn’t old data.

Maybe Samsung has something really interesting up its sleeve for the Galaxy S5 Active. Maybe it’ll be some super rugged device, offering more than just waterproofing. If so, it should be an interesting announcement as we have absolutely no info on the device. What do you think Samsung should do with the Galaxy S5 Active to make it stand out? Give us your thoughts in the comments!

It was a good move making the s5 water and dust proof, definitely would have made the m8 more attractive to me. If samsung would have made a metal option, it would have been a home run. The fact that sense and touchwiz, have very little memory left after bloat, means not a whole lot because I run AOSP

Build it similar to the samsung rugby pro smartphone and give it finger tracking so you could use it while the screen was wet.

    Of course Samsung would.

I think Samsung well head for big trouble in the future if it can’t vision the future! Even I as a Samsung owner for the last 3 years can’t wait for phone’s that look like there from out of this world. Samsung need new thinker and innovators, cater to the one handed users and the two handed users. I would like a wrist strap so I can just snap my phone on my wrist and work with comfort and able to look at my phone like a watch, just giving you some of my idea’s. I’m here talk to me … more to life. :-)
