ASUS C200 Chromebook up for pre-order, C300 coming soon

ASUS C200 Chromebook

Since their launch, Chromebooks have steadily grown in popularity, which has led to more manufacturers jumping on the Chromebook bandwagon and launching their own Chrome OS devices. ASUS is the latest to join the Chromebook craze with its 11.6-inch C200 and 13.3-inch C300. The smaller of the duo is now available for pre-order through Amazon for the low price of $249. While the C300 isn’t yet available, it’s said to be coming soon for that same price.

The C200 and C300 are similarly specced, packing a screen resolution of 1366×768, 2.4GHz Intel Celeron N2830 processor, 2GB of RAM, 16GB of flash storage, a 720p front-facing camera, Bluetooth 4.0, HDMI out, one USB 2.0 port, one USB 3.0 port, an SD card reader and a standard 3.5mm audio jack. The battery life for the C300 isn’t known, but the C200 is set for about 10 hours of usage.

If that all sounds fine and dandy, then just hit the Amazon link below to pre-order. The 11.6-inch C200 is expected to begin shipping on June 26. When the C300 becomes available, we’ll keep you posted on that as well.

I wish manufacturers would stop with the 2GB. I know it’s a Chromebook, I know it’s a low-cost device, but 2GB is still not enough to make for a pleasant experience. It’s good to see they’re moving away from Atom CPUs, but 4GB is still needed.

My hp CB 11 is a great little machine, and can almost replace my think pad, with little changes in my flow.

Sad that the newer hp replacement doesnt follow on from the previous.

I’d like a Chromebook but I don’t think the specs are quite good enough yet. Longer battery life, HD touch screen, 4gb memory, USB charger, light and slim and a good resolution camera for video calls …
