Motorola speaks out about alleged Moto 360 pricing

Recently, we got a look at what the price of the Moto 360 might be. Motorola is holding a contest that includes an “Approximate Retail Value” that’s set at $249. Of course, this made people very excited because that’s a very good price for a high-end smartwatch. But Motorola doesn’t feel that it’s fair that people are assuming that the Moto 360 will launch at $249.

Thanks for your excitement around our Moto 360 Design Face-Off contest! We want to make clear that the “Approximate Retail Value” (ARV) indicated in our rules is included for tax purposes only and should not be interpreted as the suggested retail price of the Moto 360 when it becomes available for purchase.Motorola

This $249 price is approximate and could change by the time the device launches. We may see the Moto 360 launch at $299 or even at $199 (though that’s highly unlikely). But the value given was approximate, so it likely isn’t far off from what the launch price will be. The value just seems so perfect.

So there you have it: the Moto 360′s $249 price tag is simply an approximation. The final price is still unknown. Tell us, what do you think the Moto 360′s price should be set at?
