Samsung Gear Live and LG G Watch will be available on Google Play later today

LG G Watch

Google is killing it with major announcements today. Stuck in between segments on the Android L update, Android Auto and Android TV, Google has announced that the LG G Watch and new Samsung Gear Live will be available to purchase later today on the Google Play store.

While we’ve known about the LG G Watch since March, today is the first time we’re hearing about the Samsung Gear Live. Both watches employ a square watch face and are powered by Android Wear, an extension of the Android L release that will see a widespread release this fall. Unfortunately, the Moto 360, the first Android Wear watch to use a round face, will not be available until later this summer — presumably when Motorola fully details the device alongside the Moto X+1.

Pricing and shipping info on the Samsung Gear Live is not available yet, but LG has spilled the beans on the G Watch. The LG G Watch will sell for $229 and ship July 7, less than two weeks from now. As soon as the devices are live on Google Play, we’ll update this post and send out a tweet letting you know.

  1. But those bezels are so big! If the Moto 360 does retail for 250 bucks, then they get my money!
