Android getting Angry Birds Transformers two weeks later than iOS

angry-birds-transformers-640x503

It’s nearing the end of 2014. Android is dominating the smartphone market and common folk actually know what Android is. Developers are creating apps for both Android and iOS, just like it should be. But apparently, no one told Rovio this. The company is releasing Angry Birds Transformers for iOS with a 15-day exclusivity period.

Rovio¬†isn’t calling it exclusivity, though, just stating that the Android version will be late. This may be an exclusivity deal struck with Apple, or maybe the company is doing what most did a few years back: ignoring the popularity of Android. Back when Android¬†was a smaller platform, it was understandable that companies took longer to develop the Android version of an app. But these days, it’s simply silly (especially considering Rovio’s size).

To be fair, I don’t think we’re missing much from watching the trailer for this game. It looks to be fairly boring, just milking two franchises that have been milked a little too much. But that’s my opinion, and yours might be different. Let us know how you feel in the comments!

I think this is an intended deal with Apple, just like they did with Plants vs Zombies 2 being exclusive for iOS first for some time.

Pretty sure PvZ 2 was exclusive to android users in Australia for a long time

This isn’t even Angry Birds, it’s Transformers with an Angry Birds theme. I doubt fans of Angry Birds will be very interested in this.

… Why? Who is going to base their purchasing decision of such an expensive device based on the availability of some rehashed slingshot game? Or am I missing the point of exclusivity?

  • Ios v Android

Oh no, an app is coming to Android 2 weeks later. I can’t take it. Ios is better. I need an iPhone to get apps 1st..

Angry Birds overall its a sooooo boring game, swipe your finger once… wait like 10 seconds doing nothing, repeat. zzzz

Can’t agree with the analysis there…

2 weeks is nothing, just a marketing initiative probably in cooperation with Apple, that’s not regarding Android as an inferior platform (we’re not talking of 6 months or more here).

Then, the game itself seems pretty refreshing after the dozens of versions of Angry Birds, it even seems quite innovative compared to all Temple Run / Flappy Bird clones…
