While older Samsung-branded devices are getting their Android 5.0 Lollipop tease on in video, Sprint’s Galaxy S5 is getting an entirely different update.
Officially announced late Wednesday night, Sprint has confirmed that the Android 4.4.4 KitKat update is headed out in an over the air (OTA) update to the Galaxy S5 beginning now. As usual, this OTA update will be handled in “batches,” which means that Sprint will take some time over the next few days to send out the update to all of the Galaxy S5 devices out there in the wild.
According to the Now Network, the update will add international Wi-Fi Calling support, an HD Voice icon in there for good measure and “Google security patches.” One can only imagine that there is plenty of bug squashing going on in the background as well as overall performance enhancements, too.
This brings the software version for the Galaxy S5 on Sprint to G900PVPU1ANK4.
